Fully lined dress is made out of polyester
jet-set roughly based on a Butterick
nativity play
angel costume pattern, omitting the center
front, center back, and shoulder/sleeve
seams,
adding a close-fitting collar, approximately
7-inch keyhole, and hood. Neck is
secured with 2
sets of hooks and eyes. For the belt I
used the pattern in the Leia Belt Guide
sticky and
made it out of marine vinyl, aluminum
sheeting and size 40 half-ball cover
buttons. Boots
are from Amazon. Blaster is the
blackspray-painted Rubies'. Buns I made
using hair combs
and jumbo braid extensions from Sally
Beauty. I redid the buns for the bun
closeup photos
to make them more close-fitting, more
properly placed, and generally tidier.
I was inspired to create this dress after
coming across the Halloween costume my
mom
made for me 20 years ago. The process
of looking at that costume and then
ultimately
rejecting it creating something completely
new and more screen-accurate was
chronicled in
my WIP here on the Royalty/Senatorial
boards:
