Character/Costume Description

This costume is from Episode III: Revenge
of the Sith. It is the "sleepless nights"
nightgown. I decided this costume would
be appropriate to make for an event in
June 2006, since I was 8 months
pregnant.
I wasn't happy with any patterns I could
find, so I created my own based on
images of the original gown. I hand
stitched the 8 separate panels together
using an heirloom stitch. The gown is
lined, like the original. I created the
"broach", hair decoration, and japor
snippet from Sculpey and painted them
with acrylic paint. The drape in the back
is one piece, like the original, and held in
place with three clasps of pearls &
rhinestones similar to the original. The
pearl "straps" are hand strung pearl beads
which are detachable along with the
broach for easier laundering.
