Character/Costume Description

Shirt:
Made of cotton jersey fabric, lined with similar but thinner fabric. Based on a combination of commercial sewing patterns. Shirt was dyed using Rit fabric dye in Taupe. Hood and collar were made of two different weights of polyester crepe with darts in the lining. Decorative blanket stitch on seams and collar done by machine.

Obi:
Silk tulle backed with heavy
interfacing. "Scrunched" fabric is sewn down with hidden stitches to keep in place. Closes with metal hooks.

Belt and holster:
Handmade from veg tan leather and
colored with leather dye. Buckle is 3D
printed, sanded and painted with
chrome airbrush paint and weathered
with sandpaper. Belt pattern and
buckle 3D model shared in Rey
Cosplay Community by Kristen Jones.

Tabards:
Silk tulle, constructed from two
separate pieces in order to cross in
back and front. One piece is sewn into
a loop with the seam hidden under the
obi. Tabards are sewn down at the
shoulders and under the obi to prevent
slipping.

Pants:
Store-bought strech jeans modified to
add seams and other details. Pant legs
were cut and seams with two rows of
topstitching were added to the front
and back of legs. Knee pads were
made from cotton fabric and batting
and attached with hand whip stitch.
Added a full lining in cotton to finish
the bottom edge and give the fabric a
thicker look.

Shoes:
Rey "natural linen" boots from Po-zu
purchased at SW Celebration
immediately after seeing the trailer for
the first time.

Arm wraps:
Made from strips of pigskin leather
over a cotton base, painted with beige
leather paint. Weathering added with
brown eyeshadow.

Arm cuffs:
Wrist and upper arm cuff made from
veg tan leather and dyed to match
belt. Upper arm cuff pattern from Rey
Cosplay Community, shared by Jessica
Allee based on a pattern created by
Ray Cameron. Wrist bracer pattern by
Kristen Jones and Jessica Allee.

Blaster:
3-D printed using files shared on
Thingiverse. Sanded, filled and primed
then painted with gloss black spray
paint followed by silver rub-n-buff.
Weathered with black acrylic paint and
colored inks for scorching at tip.
Screws added to holes in print.

Staff:
3D printed using files shared on
Thingiverse by Christian Lysholm
(Delphius). Painted with matte black
metallic spray paint, then weathered
with several colors of acrylic paint and
silver rub-n-buff. PVC pipe used as a
base, which breaks down into 3
pieces. Staff harness made of veg tan
leather, dyed brown. Strap is cotton
webbing with lobster clasps.

"Reforged" Graflex saber:
Modified Disney parks saber with
removable blade. "Band aid" cut from
metal pipe and covered in leather.
Activation box cut smaller and re-
attached. Burn marks added using a
dremel engraving bit, then painted
with black acrylic paint and gold rub-
n-buff. Removed one of the rubber
grips and replaced it with a 3D printed
belt clip.

New "Skywalker" lightsaber:
Built from scratch and added
electronics. Hilt is 3D printed. Files
used were from two models shared on
Thingiverse - staff files by Delphius
and lightsaber files by Nat Roman.
Metal sink tube used as a base and to
hold electronics. 3D printed parts slip
over the metal tube. End cap screws
off to allow access to battery. Blade is
removable and lit by a white tri-LED
with yellow lens.
