Character/Costume Description
Original character circa 4250 BBY.
(Two sets of robes created.)
Minoru was born on Ossus, and
spent his childhood exploring the
many caves on the planet before
going to Coruscant to train as a
warrior Jedi. Both sets of tabbards
and obi are made to resemble the
resources he would have had
available for clothing there.
Minoru did not stay long on
Coruscant. When his lightsaber
veered from the typical blue hue
(suggesting a possible inner-
connection to the Dark Side) and he
refused to kill a dark Jedi opponent
in combat (this was the time of the
Third Great schism, with Jedi fighting
Jedi), he failed his Jedi trials and
returned to Ossus.
It was there that his twin brother
(now a librarian at the Great Library
in Ossus, apprenticed to Master
Odan Urr) helped him find his true
calling. The purple hue of his
lightsaber actually represented an
ability to come close to the dark side
without being corrupted by it. That,
combined with his physical prowess
and childhood hobbies, made him an
ideal explorer of dangerous
archeological sites. He joined the
Academy of Jedi Archeology, his
ongoing mission being the retrieval
dark side artifacts and bringing them
to the Chamber of Antiquities at the
Great Library for safekeeping and
further study.
His role necessitated two sets of
robes - a lighter tan color for
everyday use, and then a black set
for traversing Sith tombs without
being noticed. It's also why I created
matching side-shields for my
glasses, to transform them into
goggles he would need for exploring
dangerous places. The robes,
including both belts and pouch sets,
are handmade.
The lightsaber is a custom
modification of an ultrasabers hilt,
using part of an old hard drive and
ax blade wedges, all weathered. The
blade is custom cut to fit the length
of my arm, as measured for a
katana, making it an absolute joy to
wield.
