A Jawa costume.
Ton Ton's clan were wiped out by
the Mos Eisley Police Dept searching for plans hidden in an old R2 unit, he survived by hiding under the tracks of his clan's sandcrawler, the images etched on his mind that day drove him to grow bigger, stronger than most Jawa's and he soon challenged for leadership of a sandwcrawler, which he won, and became leader of the N'Lon Clan.
Ok this is my first costume and I got all the CRL's from the 501st & Rebel Legion plus tons of help from their members, Mandalorian Mercs and various other people from cosplay, textile pro's, break down services, the costume itself was made by a 501st Jawa who has had several costumes cleared with the 501st, she has located the correct cloth (which her supplier has renamed
Star Wars), it has been cut, dried
and stitched using the authorised "T"
shape pattern, the item has been
weathered fully with textured spray paint and sandpaper, the hood is a separate item lined in black fabric and is the new pattern with tails hanging down the back, the boots have been wrapped in the same fabric as the robe & hood and also weathered, another great job by Sarah Parker!
The bandolier is Swedish WWI
bought from Wellington Supplies NZ for £45 including shipping, the
owner Les said he would do deals on multi purchases to cut down on costs, I have seen them sell on
eBay for £140.
The pouch is an original WWI
Mauser ammo pouch and was
bought on eBay for £6 and it is
mounted on a handmade leather
holster by a terrific
costumer/actor/filmmaker called Kit
Summerfield who had tons of
experience and lots of his items
have been cleared by the Legions
(he said he can work on most
projects with just a pic and rough
plans, if anyone is interested in
more info please contact me).
I have a psycho type face mask
with slits on my cheekbones to hold
the "LED tea light globes" for my
Jawa eyes, they were sent by a
mate in the USA from a shop called
Michaels for $7, I have two painted
orange and two painted yellow,
these were suggested on the Krayt
I have a black internal hood with a
doubled up see through mesh made
by a local seamstress that comes
down to my lower neck.
I bought a cheap MP3 player and
download two Jawa voice tracks that
play on random which I plug into the
popular AKER MR1506 amplifier
which I have under the costume on
a belt, both have 6+ hours of
battery charge which was proved at
MCM London last weekend.
Underneath the costume I am
currently wearing black track suit
bottoms and a long black Tshirt but
I am going to buy suitable
sportswear with a breathable fabric.
The weapon is handmade by me, I
did make several attempts with
different local business's making the
stock, drilling holes etc but in the
end I made two versions on my own
with zero skill, talent or experience
and I'm 95% happy with the
outcomes, I used various plumbing
parts, bonding glue, no more nails,
acrylic paints and bits and bobs I
found on the floor, each Jawa
weapon is supposed to be unique to
that Jawa with no solid CRL's. I used
a candle to add soot marks before
clear coating the whole lot, sanding,
paint and dirt where also used.
I have had lots of input from
Chantal, Sarah Parker, Dan Parker,
Dean Smith, Claire Coulthard and
many other costuming/cosplay fans,
i would like to say a big thank you!
Chantal, Claire and Sarah all have
my WIP pics so if you need extra
please ask them to choose the most
