I'm new to the Rebel Legion and also new to Blue Ridge Base. I was referred over by several guys over at the Astromech.net forums. I plan on building an R2 unit this coming winter (doing research and starting to pick up some parts now) and want to have an outfit appropriate for events when I'll have R2 out.
I hope to get my wife involved eventually as well.

My intent is to start with a generic (Clone Wars era) Jedi, possibly eventually add some Clone Trooper armor, and also possibly do a Rebel Pilot in the future as well.
I am not a tailor; I've tried. What takes a tailor 2 hours to make, will take me 12 hours to make. The seamstresses I would typically go to are specialists in medieval garb and are busy enough that they're not really interested in a Star Wars commission.
I would very much appreciate any suggestions or recommendations for people to go to to order parts to put together a Jedi kit.

Hi Sendaar! Welcome to the base. Check the Star Wars Prop and Costume forum on the RL boards. There are usually people over there who do commissions on jedi costumes. One that pops to mind is Woodman. Find his thread and contact him. He can make you what you want.

You can probably find others on etsy and places like that. Good luck!

Thanks. I've browsed over at the Prop and Costume boards and seen many warnings away from some Etsy vendors. Having someone within the RL itself makes me more sure they'll get things correct.

Got my outer cloak at Mystik Merchant -

Thanks for the recommendations.

I've seen a few recommendations for Mystik Merchant, and understand that their robes are "spot on" for not having seams in some places where there shouldn't be. I'm wondering about the fabric that they use. Does it "breathe" at all? Does it look right in person?

I've looked at Twin Rose Designs website as well. It looks like they do set sizes instead of custom. I'm not sure that's right. They almost give too many options. Smile

I did find Woodman's thread as well. It looks like he makes some nice stuff, and being a member of the Legion, I'd think he'd be more "in touch" with the requirements.

I'm torn between doing the "standard" color schemes and doing something with more actual color in it (like shades of green). It seems like the vast majority of Jedi in the movies are shades of brown, so color seems a bit wrong, but I like color. Decisions, decisions.

I'm hoping to start ordering some stuff this weekend, so I'll have some work in progress in the future.

Mstik Merchat's stuff is a tad heavy, but not too bad for what it is. It looks great, accurate sizing, and got it in a week after I sent my measurements.

Twin Roses does custom as well as preset sizes. On the left, one of the buttons says "Custom Costumes". Click that, then select Fantasy, and Star Wars is one of the options.

Welcome to the base. If you need help with Jedi and Pilot questions, I can probably help steer you as well. I have Obi Wan and the CW Obi Wan. Also have a few pilots from the different eras.

Clone Wars Obi Wan is really the main inspiration I'm working from with my "Generic Jedi". I don't plan to get into armor until after I get the base ready to use on its own. My experience with medieval recreation makes it so I'd much rather do "generic" than doing a named character.

I sent an email off to Twin Roses Design on Thursday last week, but haven't heard anything back yet. I'm planning to get their "Mace Windu" inspired pattern for the longer tunic and tabards length, but not necessarily his colors. I ordered a Ka'Tano saber from Saber Forge as well.
Going off Geniepants recommendations on crafters, partially because their prices are good, and their quality seems to be up there as well.

When I get to doing a pilot, I'm torn between doing a ANH pilot, or doing a TLJ pilot. I'm not sure the difficulties of either, as far as finding appropriate parts, or which has more parts to find. But I expect that'll be more than a year from now. Once I've got a solid Jedi kit, my focus really will be on getting an R2 built.

MTFBWY as well

Looking for boots and pouches. It seems that either pouches are VERY expensive (coming from someone used to buying leather pouches for medieval recreation stuff), or they're not functional. The prices I'm seeing for belts make sense.

Anyone have experience with the JediRobes boots? Any recommendations elsewhere. I've got very large calves, so I might need to get into something custom fit.

JDOS if you want a complete custom boot. Warn you. They are 200 to 300 boots, but they are lace up and completely made from scratch and are approvable. Downside. He stays busy. So it may take 6 to 8 months or more to get them.

The other big plus. They are made to LAST. I have these for my Obi Wan Boots

When looking for boots. if you do find one. Make sure they have a Side Zipper on to the INSIDE of the Boot. Zippers to the side outside and down the back calf are no accepted

From the looks of his Etsy store, he may be overwhelmed. I've got a pair of $500 medieval boots, so I'm familiar with buying boots made to last, and paying good money for them.
I wonder if my (medieval) Mongolian boots would work. They look a bit like cowboy boots (some would say that the Mongols where the original cowboys), and are built to last as well. They might make do until I can get something "more official".

I've got him saved on Etsy, and I'll poke him on Facebook, but at the same time, I'm going to see if I can find someone who's available sooner.

Getting a belt and some pouches from Thanatos. After some research, I've found that "Generic Clone Wars Jedi" don't really use the ribbed pouches he sells that are $100. They're closer to his "utility pouches", which I can afford a couple of.

Twin Roses Designs is working with me on designing my robes. Again, shooting for "Generic Clone Wars Jedi". Doing darker colors than Obi-Wan or Mace Windu so they contrast better with armor when I start heading down that road.

Welcome and glad you have this thread going. I am going to be looking for some jedi robes in the future most likely and would have to be custom. I like references on the boards, but sometimes something more up to date is best because people quit making things or some other change. Looking forward to hearing your results of your purchases.
