I think the larger ring might be made of something similar to peacock ore.

I first thought it had more green in it but there are definitely other colors as well.

I find it difficult to grasp the shape of the sleeves. They seem to be folded at the bottom (hand level) and pushed in from the outside all the way down the arm where the outside seam is (rather than sticking out like a triangle). I can see Carrie's arms poking through quite high up near the shoulder but how high is the sleeve sewn to connect at the back and will there be a lot of "pull" where the sleeve joins the body at the front if you are moving your arms about?

For the big ring, I think I'm going to try a cheapy cocktail ring from Ebay and use nail varnish for the colour and some gold wires (similar to the bracelet), for the claws. That peacock ore is certainly beautiful but I don't know how I'd get it flat.

The “stones” for my blue ring are buttons painted with nail polish. Smile. I ordered a cheap piece of the peacock ore from Etsy to play around with and see how it goes.

When I made the brown cloak, I had the same issue with the sleeves. They were so extraordinarily heavy. I made some alterations that will mean it’ll never get approved here, but it works at conventions and photos. I didn’t line the sleeves because that just added to the weight and I also use a lot of safety pins to keep it all in place.

Could there be some elastic or something sewn in and hidden under the arms that is helping to stabilize the robes/sleeves? Sort of like folks do for cloaks that aren’t fastened at the collar.

I have found this fabric for the Raddus coat.

Unfortunately it's not available anymore, in fact it was out of stock and I emailed the shop that found two remnants of it, and hopefully it will be enough to make the coat. It's a black metallic brocade with antihracite lurex in it.

Funnily enough, I found that one too today and thought it looked accurate.

I also found this one - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141582132490
which again, is out of stock and apparently never to be replenished. I've bought the last little bit of it so could possibly make one sleeve ...
So near and yet so far!

The peacock stone looks interesting. Smile

The sleeves attach much lower on the back of the armscye, so you can't see the dress when looking at the costume from the back.

I have just received this and sadly it's not the ACTUAL one albeit very close. The squares are of varying sizes (it is called "Snakeskin" after all) rather than all the same and the overall colour is perhaps a tadge too dark. It hangs the same though as it's heavy and looks overcoat/blankety enough without being too scratchy. Onward ...

The fabric arrived, and I almost started to cry when I opened it, it's perfect. I just hope that I will be able to eek out the full coat of it.

I have Another non-SW related costume Project as my main Project for the spring, but the when I made the coat for the premiere version it didn't take me ore than a weekend to make. I am hoping to have it approved for an event in early May.

For approval I will also have to restyle the wig, make a new bracelet and new earrings.

It's essentially a big weird folded triangle almost: the fold is on the bottom, sew up the outer side, then once the sleeve is sewn onto the armhole, you tuck in the other side.

Here's my quick-not-to-scale pattern reference:

It's only attached to the coat from somewhere around where your arm and chest meet on the front and then on the back it's a little bit further down (so you shouldn't see the sleeve from the back but you can on the front).

I hope that helps!
