Would love to get the benefit of your greater experience:

How do you tie the chest box straps?

Once tied tight I have a vast surplus that I don’t know how to hide.

Rear shots of X-Wing pilots in the Yavin briefing room seem to show that the spare isn’t left to dangle.

So where does it go?

Right round to the front and back into the chest box?

Trimmed short and Velcro’d into place to hide it under the rest of the strap?

Some other simple solution that I’m just not smart enough to grasp?

Please share your tips! Thank you. TFWBWYA.

Most people just cut their excess chestbox strap down. It's okay to have a little bit of excess hanging, two or three inches, but not a lot of excess.

Thanks all. Guess I’ll just cut it down and add Velcro to hide it.

If you plan to use it for both standard X-wing as well as a Hoth snowspeeder pilot, you will want to leave it long enough to fit over the Hoth jacket.
I would recommend leaving at least 4 to 5 inches excess.

Put a piece of velcro on the end of the strap, and then 2 pieces of the mating velcro along the strap where the end meets. One positioned for the standard X-wing, and the other piece for the Hoth pilot.

This is exactly what I did. I'm not exactly planning a Hoth build right now, but you never know.

Thanks, DroidWelder and wabbit89.

Yes, I’m doing the full Snowspeeder version too, so that’s why I didn’t want to cut it down. Will cut and may just run Velcro down the whole of that differing length.

Almost there. Almost there....

Almost ready to take on the whole Empire myself:
