I've decided on making this character, however I could use some help.
Im not a seamstress and honestly, I wouldn't know where tofind one without your help.

I'm looking on suggestions on where to find:

Light blue long sleeved collared shirt
Tan over tunic with pocketed sleeves
Brown belt with octagonal belt buckle
Rank badge and collar insignia

It would mean a lot to have some guidance in this matter.

Hi Dave! Madine is a great choice!

I think we can probably find some ready made sources for most of the things on your list. I'm going to do a little bit of research tomorrow, but to start with I'd suggest for the shirt and belt peeking at the RFT forum.

The vest is very similar to some of the ERT ones, and I believe that there is a tutorial that Phyllis put together that includes the Madine variant as well. I'll look for that tomorrow for you. I don't know of anyone who has the Madine variant listed as ready made item, but your BMO may be able to help you find someone local who could help you, or recommend a local tailor.

The rank badge and collar insignia there may be 3-D files for, but I'm fairly certain there are tutorials. I'll see if I can find the links to those. Have you poked around in the prop sale section of the forums or on Etsy?

Here's the madine reference gallery
http://www.command.rebellegion.com/rotj-costumes/generals-and-madine-rotj/

This is the tutorial for the madine vest
http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24975

tutorial for shirt-there might be a better one
https://studiocreations.com/howto/rebelfleettrooper/main.html

Shirt on etsy, RFT on FB have used them....
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/601838312/rebel-fleet-trooper-shirt-star-wars?ref=shop_home_active_7

buckle
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/587113027/rebel-octagonal-buckle-replica-for-rebel?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=fleet%20trooper%20belt&ref=sr_gallery-1-5&organic_search_click=1

I'm still looking for the rank and collar insignia, The one place that does the collar bits doesn't seem to have great reviews. In the long term I'm looking to have someone I know print them as a supplier. Do you know anyone local to you who 3d prints?

Thanks, Empathy! It looks like the bits you still need sourced are the rank badges and collar pips. Also, here's another reference album for Madine, the tutorial Phyllis put together is saved in there as a PDF- the link to the original forum post is in the header. (When photobucket broke everything, I started saving threads for our local detachment.):

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4xsXvnXAr7LNkh3c0x6dGRfczg

Forum Thread:

http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24975

Here are a few places that sell the collar pips- it looks the originals were part of an airplane model kit:

https://www.djdesigns.eu/Rebel_Generals_Collar_Rank_Badge/p2292763_14676272.aspx

https://www.facebook.com/pg/Far-Away-Creations-124196600929034/about/?ref=page_internal

http://www.shadowdalecreations.com/rebelforces.htm

I haven't ordered from any of these vendors so I strongly suggest you check reviews, but the last two were mentioned in this thread:

http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=489750&sid=918ac06d6ceefec37948cb83b8ed4d28

The first one I found after a couple of google searches.

For the rank badge- it's very close to Leia's. It looks like the circles may be a dark grey or black rather than blue, but I haven't compared them suuper closely, so I highly recommend looking at references.

Rebel's Haven has a tutorial for making the rank badge out of clay here:

http://www.rebelshaven.com/etbadge.html

and the 3D print file can be found here:

https://www.stlfinder.com/model/leiaendor-rebel-commando-trooper-rank-badge-vzd9AuSr/7702120

There are several people who sell them on Etsy.

I have some of the collar pips if anyone is interested ....
and I might have a rank badge or two.

I used to sculpt, mold and cast some of these items but in this day and age of 3D printing, I no longer really do any of that stuff but I do have a bag of some items that I cast as extras

Thatís a shame. I find that casts are much better than 3D prints and I actually prefer them. Casted versions tend to have a higher level of detail and donít require the scads of prep work that the 3D prints do.

I have a few pieces left that I cast some time ago

The thing that most people don't realize is the amount of work and expense that goes into these seemingly small things...
people find that 3D printing is much cheaper and I lost money on each and every item I made when I was actively doing this...
at the present time, there simply is no money in my budget to continue on with this sort of thing.

Molds will only last so long as they deteriorate with each and every cast made in them and they even deteriorate on the shelf.
Molding and casting supplies have continued to rise in price and there simply is not enough demand for pieces to resume.

Iíll take a rank badge and the two collar insignia off your hands Phyllis! Iím working on an Endor Commando now but I love Madine and Iím going to do him next.

I totally understand the time and expense. I just think cast parts look so much better than printed. Itís an art and folks like you are very talented itís a shame to see that go away.

Are models for the collar pips available out there, for 3D printing?

Casting is ideal for something like this, but if there's no one casting them anymore, it would be a shame if we couldn't even 3D print them because there aren't any models.

If there are any extra pips left, and no 3D models available, I'd be interested in one, so I can model it and post the model somewhere for everyone to enjoy.

I admit I'm a bit tempted by this character (although is there a generic? I hate wigs if I can avoid it) now that I see the components needed. I just did this vest (essentially) for my Endor Trooper, and already have an RFT, so fairly easy costume to add to the list...

I have two sets of the pips left....one is promised to Rebel Lady..if you want...I can mail you one of the pips for you to 3D model (as long as you return it) so you can pass the 3D model along ÖI think that will be very important...

we definitely don't want stuff like this to get lost....

I have a bunch of left over stuff that I cast... often when I had casting supplies...I would just cast a bunch of things "in case"...

I will try to take a photo of what I have left in case anyone is interested in other items...then I can mail all at once...

Rebel Lady is a friend who is local. I'll check with her first, to see how soon she needs to use her pips. If I can just borrow hers, then no need to send me yours. If she plans to use them in the near future, then yes, I'll take you up on that. Smile Thanks!
