Anyone have a recommendation on the wig and beard? Got someone working
on the costume, based on Dawn's mock CRL, but need the hair to do it right. My Old Luke wig and beard are obviously not right for this one.

I ordered a wig on ebay that I'm going to have styled - if it works out, I can post pictures/links with info. As for a beard, I'm using my own Smile

Got my wig, and got it styled a bit (though I'm hoping to do some more work with it). The part doesn't go as high as I'd like it to, but overall, it's pretty much what I was hoping for.

I found it on ebay:

Here's some shots of me wearing it:

Looks good.

What material did you use for the cloak?

Thanks! We found a poly material that had a sort of similar pattern to the screen used. It has "stripes", though they run in a few more directions than the "tiger stripe" pattern on the screen used garment. Overall, they run in the right direction, and had more variance than some of the straight horizontal lines that I've seen others used. Here's an up-close image of the fabric we found compared to the screen used and photo shots:

I'm still on the hunt for a more accurate fabric - I think it's something thicker than what we found, almost velvet-like in texture, and I'd definitely like to find a better stripe detail pattern as well.

I live near Boston - there's an independent fabric store in Framingham, MA called Fabric Place Basement that had a big roll of it.

Hunting for fabrics for the outer robe/trench coat. It's very hard to find a fabric with that kind of patterning to it

These were the closest I could find

Those look promising - Mood is an amazing fabric store. We drive down to NYC a lot to shop there. It's the place that they use every season on Project Runway for the contestants to shop for their projects. Super enormous and a massive selection, plus the people that work there are amazing. They'll send you swatches of those fabrics so you can see if you like them in person first.

I've looked at textured viscose (I don't know if it has another name in the US), which have a texture very similar to what is seen in the movie. It's not a heavy or thick fabric, so maybe it needs two layers, but I think it could work well for the robe. Smile

I believe Viscose is Rayon? It's some form of synthetic fabric.

It's a plant fiber. Can be dyed. Smile I can't always remember what fabric names are the same across languages; the fun of learning them separately. Razz

Following this because Id like to do this at one point. But Im probably going to lighten my hair similar to Obi-Wan (RoTS) so that would be a no go for conformity when this gets approved?
