I would be interested to see that picture from Heavy as well, from what I have seen there are no seams.

Heavy, screen shoot this documentary on youtube; and you can clearly see the shoulder seams! Very Happy

And we start work this weekend. It will be interesting to see how far we get.

I have just found this one, 42 seconds in is a picture of a senate guard, clear visible of a seam on the left shoulder and a seam on the right shoulder that is pulled down with the weight of the blaster

Didn't get around to updating here, but I do have a few pictures of our progress. It isn't much, but you have to start somewhere. Wink

First a quick, rough mock up, just to test a couple of things out. I had a model in roughly the same size as me, only slightly taller, so that makes patterning so easy.

Front, to test width at shoulders and bottom. Note that this fabric drapes really badly.

Side, slim shoulder:

Side, wide shoulder:

The two of us are slim shoulders, but not all of the group is so.

Length in front before it opens up:

I also had one of the broader shouldered guys stop by, so got up pull the rough mock up on him (after cutting up the back and front some).

The width is right, but not the angle at the top; it's too flat, so I'll need to change that.

Well, the first tentative pattern was made to test it out with better draping fabric.
Sleeves:

Front/back, half a piece (to save on pattern paper):

And for the first proper mock up, I present: The Purple Senate Guard!

I'm going to widen the sleeves at the bottom for more draping, but we're pretty satisfied with the work so far.
The front/back is currently 1 meter wide, the side 50 cm.
