|
|
|
I've been working on this for a while already, but decided to break down and make a build thread! I've posted a few times in the Sabine FB group for help, so anyone lurking may have seen me.
I'm working on Sabine's season 3 light version with the bucket at the moment.
Bucket:
Currently needs some touch ups, but overall I think is going well! I'm going to do some touch ups on the paint tonight and do the topcoat. Still need to try and darken the visor (I was sent a green one, not black).
Misc armor:
I don't have my soft parts yet, so I have been working on random armor pieces I know will fit/I am able to shape. I still need to shape the shoulders, knees, boot armor, make the shins, and decide if I want to make the hand armor smaller.
The checkerboard I actually am starting over on-- my tape popped up during the recoat, so this is after me trying to fix it. Unfortunately, I just didn't end up liking it.
Wig:
I'm in love with this wig, not gonna lie. It's The Five Wits' Sabine wig.

My boots came in Thursday night so I couldn't help but paint them. I also finished my sprayer since I figured I'd just use the same method for the splatter on both of them. I added a little more paint on the back half of the boot, but I can't get any good pictures of it since I live alone lmao.

I actually did more today than I expected! I got the Starbird on the other side of the chest piece, which I was super nervous about. I think after adding the weathering, it looks pretty good! Also they the orange on the left and the red on the right actually are different colors-- I don't know why they're photographing so similarly. The one on the left is the same as the top of the bucket!

I haven't posted here in a long time! Some updates!
I switched out the orange on the bucket and the less bright orange on the chest piece. While it was different than the red, when they weren't right next to each other, they read as the same color, which was driving me crazy. The chest piece has been weathered and sealed since this photo with temp velcro, but it's drying and I'll update that later.
I've (hopefully) finished the owl and redid the checks + added the yellow outline on the shoulder bells. I'm a little nervous about the owl, but I've been assured it's fine by a few people in the Sabine FB group, so fingers crossed.
I've also FINALLY shaped the shoulder armor and it's got some paint on it! No pictures yet since it's not in a great state yet, but I'll show you soon! |

When you realize the concept art has the wrong color for the Star Bird and that was the reference you were using

Okay, so I made and painted my shin guards! I'm really pleased with how they're turning out so far. I'm going to paint the edges by hand at some point, but not until I get home from break probably.

Long time no post!! I had a few setbacks. I broke one of my shin guards, so that was awful. I made a shirt, though!!
I may redo the collar a little (aka add some interfacing), but I'm going to starch it first to see how that does. The collar's mostly fine, it's just that the ends like to poke out a little bit. It's not like they're falling. Just sometimes pictures with the shirt sucks?
But here's the big one!! I started attaching armor!
I actually need to redo the placement on the velcro on the shoulders for the bells, but I had rushed them on after the first picture because I was so in love with how it looked. I'm hoping to have this finished by early February! At this point I need to make the pants (which, I had commissioned, and then when altering them I I love you up), order the belt, and finish attaching armor to various pieces.
I'd like to get the blasters, but I am going to have to wait on those a bit. I've got a troop I'm confirmed for in March as Sabine, so I need to have this submitted and approved. aUUUGH DEADLINES |

its coming together very nicely! Hope you make your deadline. Remember if you have applied or are close your BCO can give you provisional approval to wear it to 1 event before your application is officially approved. That might help a little. _________________ Star Dancer - Stardancer1914 aka Dianne Althouse

Oh, that's great to know! Thank you! My BCO is the one who's wanting me to do it, so I'm sure it'll work out great!! |

So, these are now the most expensive pants I own. I dyed all of it. It's been a process. I originally commissioned pants and then accidentally I love you them up lmao. SO. Here they are. I'm really proud. I don't think I've been this excited for a costume. Also, excuse the messy room. My apartment explodes when I sew.
I have now ordered the belt and the blasters and should be ready for approval once I get those since I'll do the elbow and knee stuff while I wait!

Hello!!
I commented on your progress on the Sabine FB page but I thought I would cheer you on here as well
It's quite funny because I can see you have an approved Jyn. I also have a Jyn and Sabine approved so we definitely have the same character taste!!
I really like the weathering and "battle damage" on your armor pieces. That's very nicely done. And your soft parts too!! What material did you use for the shirt?
I'm not a judge but one this I see is the diamond is a bit wide. I have no idea if that's a problem or not, but I cut it a bit from the original pattern.
From one of your picture before I can see you put the right shoulder bell on the left side and vice-versa. That might have been done quickly and without realizing but that did happen to me at a troop (just look at my profile picture...!! oops!!). What I did was to put some arrows on the back of the shoulder bell to know which side goes where. Even when writing left or right I still mixed them up (I'm terrible with my right and left)
Good job! _________________ • Jyn Erso • Battle Rey (TLJ) • Sabine Wren • Senatorial Leia • |

Your kit is coming along very nicely! You look spectacular
I've seen you posting in the Sabine group but I'm fairly silent in there, but you're doing great work. I look forward to seeing you completed _________________
