I recently attended the Sci Fi Expo in Irving TX (Dallas area), and had a great time with the guys from San Antonio and the surrounding area from both the 501st and Rebel Legion. I got tons of compliments about the costume. Here is my favorite picture from that weekend - done by Brett Cox Photography.

WAY nice. If Old Ben were to make an appearance as a force ghost in Episode VII, they know who to call!

Paul,

I have to say this is a real good costume. Can't believe how screen accurate it looks. Hopefully mine will be somewhere near this, when I get it done.

Where did you get your belt, or did you make it yourself? And what brand of dye did you use for your army blankets.

Al.

Thanks Al.
The belt came from Lgtsbr, a member here and other forums. We are going to redo it based on items I found on the Blu Ray of the Episode IV movie. I just received a brass buckle made by a friend and member from France made to the correct screen size. He posted earlier in this thread.
The dye I used was just Rit from a local Walmart or fabric store like Joanne's. There may be better dyes out there but that was the one I decided to use.
Good luck on your costume. I have several threads here in the forums on the costume, including the belt. Hope they help.

Paul.
Ben

No problem Paul,

I have almost finished making my own belt using some of the tutorials & threads on here. Just got to redo the 'Banana pouch' now that I have came across a softer leather. Smile

My boots are just some old riggers which I am going to darken up a little, to be more screen accurate.

My Fabric should be getting shipped from the U.S. today, all going well. Then it's off to the seamstress with it. Did you use a pattern for yours, or just go by eye from the Blu Rays?

Lastly the Dye I will be using is a make called Dylon. I have used this range before on other fabrics & it has quite a good effect.

I might actually see if I can contact the member regarding a Belt Buckle.

I'll post pics of my Belt as is just now later, on my thread.

Al.

I didn't have a pattern. Just my instructions based on what I found on the Bluray of ANH and the experience of the seamstress. She did a great job.

If I remember correctly I ordered 8 yards but that was several years ago. It certainly was enough but I dont remember how much was left over. Sorry I couldn't be more precise.

Your costume looks fantastic! Is your Inner Robe (raw silk material) the one from King Textiles?

It's an identical match to my eye. It's just a shame that they don't sell or ship outside of Canada.
