So this all started when I volunteered to put together a draft Theron Shan costume guide for the Pride Squadron booth at Star Wars Celebration. I offered to post pics for the prequel comic version of his costume too since I owned all 5 issues. Then I realized we had the same hair color, and I wouldn't have to do the Shadow of Revan faux hawk. And here we are!

I'm going to be keeping build info in a Google Doc folder for ease of photos. So here's my build....and a sneak preview of a draft for the costume guide:

(Includes photo references, costume overview, costume build progress, and supplemental documents where I try to make sense of various inconsistencies)

Note: Rank doesn't seem to be a big thing in the SIS or Alliance, but at the time of Lost Suns, he was "one of the Director's top field agents," I feel that would put him at the level of Poe or Cassian, hence Rebel Commanders.

Nice! Seriously awesome research! <3 The pants you found are the same ones I grabbed for my Mirax build- they are perfect for Star Wars pants!

Couple of things I noticed:

The shirt looks like it has a Mandarin collar. If you look, the seam where the collar is attached is visible in the references and it is visibly damaged in some of the later images. I have some resources for patterning those- let me know if you want me to dig them out. Smile

The "v" you mention looks to me like it is an entirely different garment. It almost appears to be an '80's style jacket complete with shoulder pads and a shawl lapel- just tucked into his pants. (Worn over a grey t-shirt.)

The blasters, I'd wait until you get a print you like. Blasters are usually optional items, so why not get the ones that you want the first time? There was a guy in the ERT facebook group offering modeling- you might check there?

This is an awesome start! Super excited to see it progress!

This looks like a great kit!

I agree there is lots of slight variation....I wonder if we should think about the writing of the standard and give multiple options for that torso part? Or 2 different kits? That shawl collar set up is def different to the mandarin collar shirt with the Armour...but there also seem to be some with extra panels.

Is it all different comics?

I think there are at least two costumes there. The mandarin collar I'm seeing looks like it might be on the flak vest?

Here's a document where I went through every single reference photo and tried to make sense of the red and brown shirt weirdness. I'm definitely sure it's a red flak vest over a brown shirt.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lyXMbr-a7PwzPUC1TSlOwkN1jRGVLGpncIuPV4k39Lg/edit?usp=sharing

Also...my shirt, boots, and pants came in, and they've been tried on and photographed next to white sheets of paper for white balance purposes.

(I reconfigured the folder so there's now separate documents for costume build and costume overview and updated the link in the original post.)

The pants are.....completely desaturated gray in person, but they photograph very well, even alongside the white paper.

The boots are two colors. This is fine. I can fix it I'm sure.....

The tight shirt is inspiring me to work on my flimsy arms.

Looking good.....I did chuckle reading your notes on the inconsistency's, that's what all my WIPS sound like. I'd just pick one set of those, its mainly the sides and the front closure that changes.

Parts you have sourced look good. You will need to adjust the flak to have a front opening and a mandarin collar, but that won't be too hard.

Great work.
