Hi All,

This is my first costume that I am working on for Celebration. I was fortunate to find a bare bones kit from Leias Trooper! The kit came with a guide and some recommendations, but the first thing I decided to work on was painting.

Kit with two coats of paint:

I think I got overzealous though and wanted to provide some weathering to it. By doing so I think the kit may have lost some of the look. Here is an example of once piece that is half weathered.

I love the antique look, but I realized that this is not accurate for the reference images I am looking back on. So I am pretty certain I will be going back and revising the pieces to be up to standard.

More to be posted soon, and suggestions always welcome Very Happy

I actually think you're onto something with the antiquing look. I was scanning some images of this costume from the official Original Trilogy costume book, and they all look like they have some depth to the color:

Oh you've done a lovely job on the weathering! I found that to be the trickiest part when I was painting mine. Can't wait to see your finished look.

Yes, getting the right amount of weathering done can be a challenge. I recommend to start lightly then apply more if it's not enough. Smile
It looks good, but I think you're right about having overdone it.

I totally forgot to post my progress pictures due to Celebration crunch time, but here is my (mostly) finished kit. I want to add the beads in the front and construct a vibroaxe. The chain I am using I will not use for approval, this one was to hook onto my Mando friance for protection at the con! Besides that I am open to any advice or suggestions on what I may need to tweak.

From what I can see, looks good. I was sent back the comment that my skirt didn't "flow" right with the material I chose and had to remake it with a knit and then was approved. That "may" be something you are told but not a judge so can't say for sure.

I also noticed you're not wearing the earrings? That would be the only other thing I see.

Lovely job!!

I'll suggest ageing your gold parts once you are done with them, so they get more of an old gold, used look. Smile A black wash should do the trick. You can apply as many or few layers as you wish until you get the desired result.
This will help create patina and depth to your parts.
