I'm getting started on my Generic Jedi costume and I would love any feedback about getting items approved.

So far I've got the following:

1. Lightsaber:
Saber Forge Sentinel (https://saberforge.com/collections/apprentice-sabers/products/sentinel) I'm getting the "weathered" version and will be making a few updates to enhance it a bit. I am painting the emitter to look brass. It will have a Brown leather grip instead of black. I will be painting the center section back to original black. I think it makes it look a lot less generic. Here's a before and after shot that I did in MS Paint.
Before:

After:

2. Food Pellets

3. Boots (http://www.buystarwarscostumes.com/anakin-adult-boots.html)
a. This is going to get a lot of weathering to make them look a lot more authentic.
4. Belt (got one off of Etsy. We'll see what it looks like and if it needs weathering.)

5. Simplicity 4450 (I know it needs edits... stay tuned.)[/img]

All a good start.
Those belts off etsy are usually ok as long as they are sized properly and the velcro/snap closure isn't view-able.

If you find that it doesn't meet standards and you need assistance, I can probably help there, (but I think you'll be ok)
I make jedi belts.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Good Luck!

You seem in good shape for those components. I have similar Anakin boots and got this preliminary note from my local judge:

Quote:
Yes, most of the Anakin Skywalker boots are approvable however...if the flaps that cover the part of the boot that go across the top of you foot are loose and "flapping" - those would need to be secured.

the spats on those boots are loose and floppy if you wear them straight from the box with no modifications.
(they have nothing to keep the spats in place, they rely on the decorative 'straps')

I used to have those same boots. I secured the spats all the way around their perimeter with crazy glue.

my next pair were funtasma 'captain 100' w/ genuine leather spats from custom props in argentina.
these were secured with velcro.

my next pair were the licensed replica star wars boots from "museum replicas" -- also secured with velcro.

either way you're going to need some way to fix the spats in place and hold the edges down so they don't "flap" when you walk.
use glue for a permanent solution, or velcro for a removeable option. cheers.

here is a tutorial using those exact same boots,
with all the instructions you need to weather them and make them look more realistic.
(c/w recommendation for a specific paint to use).

before/after:

hope this helps. cheers.

If you end up needing to modify your belt to ensure the velcro is fully covered, there are a bunch of us locally who make belts, and can show you how to make a larger keeper.

I am making 3 pouches to cover the velcro section... here is my WIP for the pouches. I used a travel sized Q-Tip case as the base. These are like $1 each at the grocery store and worked well as a pattern base (and I could glue them instead of stitching the leather).

@SithLantern, those are very nice belts! When I'm ready to upgrade, I'll reach out.

OK... so I finally got the boots, belt and pouches to be a near perfect match for the coloring and wear.

I think you should know, your pouch construction method is making major waves in saber guild. We are distributing it to local costume consulars around the world as a fast, cheap way to make good looking approvable pouches.
