I have been using different sources to figure out the size of the pockets. First I have to find the correct size in general and then I have to adjust them to my body. The process is more difficult than I thought it would be.

I started to make my grey soft helmet yesterday because I needed a break from my pants pattern. It was made with a modified version of Grey Jedi (Donna Keeley) Endor Trooper Helmet Pattern
http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=69008
and some left over fabric from my vanguard gaiters. I could not finish it because I ran out of fabric. I underestimated the amount of fabric that is needed to make the knife pleats. I hope that my local fabric store still has some of that fabric left.

I bought a grey hose and finished my soft pack this morning.

I made a pattern for my gaiters yesterday and started sewing a mock-up this morning. I could not use the Endor Trooper Gaiter Pattern that Grey Jedi (Donna Keeley) shared because the EA Battlefront 1 and 2 gaiters have 3 visible seams and are made out of 4 fabric pieces.
http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=69008
That should actually help with my calf shape. The Battlefront gaiters are also shaped different in the area that covers the boot.

EA Battlefront 1 female DRT gaiters

EA Battlefront 2 Endor Rebel Specialist gaiters

Looks like I should make regular seams and not reinforced seams of my gaiters. I am going to make another mock-up to see how big the difference is.

The second mock-up looks very similar to the EA Battlefront gaiters. I am going to add eyelets tomorrow to see how well they fit. I do not think that I have to change anything but want to be certain before I cut the white heavy canvas.

I added new longer cuffs and a drawstring to the hooded jacket yesterday. The drawstring will help keep the lower part of the jacket closed and will be hidden by the waistband of the pants.

The first gaiter is almost finished. I had to make the pattern smaller because the prototype was way too wide in the foot area and a little bit too wide in the calf area.

I decided to use the correct fabric for this mock-up because I ran out of other materials. Since I had to buy one meter of white canvas and should have enough to make two more pairs of gaiters if these are too small. I wrapped the mock-up around my boot and calf, I expect that this gaiter will fit fine in the foot area but bearly fit at the top edge. I will know more when I have added the eyelets and boot lace.

I finished the first gaiter yesterday. I have learned some things about the canvas that I am using. It has a nice thickness and stiffness. Unfortunately, it frays very easily. It is not that big of a problem on the cut edges because I can use the zigzag stitch to stop that, but I cannot do that on the holes I punched for the eyelets. It looks like the eyelets for the laces will only survive a couple of events before they are torn out of the fabric. I should be able to repair that by adding larger eyelets, but it is only a short term solution. I will probably have to make new gaiters out of a thick twill fabric next year when I finish my specialist.

I was right about the size. The gaiters fit ok at the foot but barely fit on the upper edge of the gaiters. I will have to correct the pattern when I make new ones for my specialist.

I finished the second gaiter today and also got some work done on the soft helmet. I changed the front area a little bit and added tan bias tape on the inside as well as grey bias tape to the ear cup holes. The only things that are still missing are the knife pleats on top, the sweatband on the forehead and the bias tape on the edges.

I had to adjust the soft helmet a little bit more because the DRT soft helmet is different from the ERT soft helmet. The DRT soft helmet has no ear cups or they are smaller than the ones of the ERT soft helmet. They cannot be as large as the ones the ERT has or they would be visible. The general shape of the DRT soft helmet is also different. The neck part goes farther down as the one for the ERT. The DRT soft helmet does not have leather parts or snaps. The knife pleats are also less visible from the side than they are on the ERT soft helmet. The DRT soft helmet does not have a chin strap.

I am working on the disk greeblies. They have to be a lot smaller than the ones that can be bought online. Most of those have a diameter of 2 inches but my hole has a diameter of 35mm.

I am also still adjusting the pocket pattern sizes to my body shape. I hope the start sewing the pants this or the next weekend.

I have been thinking about the helmet disk greeblies. The location for them on my helmet only has a diameter of 32-33mm and is only 2-3mm deep. All the 3D-printed disks that are available online will not fit, because are too large and thick. I will probably make them out of Worbla because that is the material I am most familiar with. I am not worried about the finished disks getting too warm and to start deforming because I will try to make sure that the helmet does not get that warm.

Here are some references and the sketches I can up with. I made them in MS Paint because I do not have anything else to work with.

EA BF1 helmet

EA BF2 helmet

The BF1 and the BF2 disk.

I am planning on making two versions of this costume. The first one will be a version with a wig. I think I have already found one on Amazon.de that will work nicely.

The second one will be the version with the helmet. I will use the softpack for both versions.

The longer I work on the costume the more accurate I want it to be. I will be switching the white gaiters laces to coyote brown because that is what I can see in the references. I would also like to switch my tan boots for a medium or dark brown pair but palladium boots in my size and that color are very expensive. Perhaps I will find a good substitute at a later time. I am also looking for a different belt strap but I have not been able to find webbing in the correct color. I am not even sure what color it is. It somewhere in the brown-grey range. I will keep an eye out.

I put on my self-made RFT pants and pined the pocket patterns to it to figure out the placing this morning. Sorry I did not take any photos of that. Then I cut the fabric for the pants. I am going to cut the pockets tomorrow. The pattern is a modified Burda 6952 size 60.

I did more work on the pockets yesterday. The front and back pockets are now ready to be sewed on to the pants fabric. The green stitches are there to help keep the pockets in the correct shape. I am taking them out again after the pockets are sewed in place.
