Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has any tutorials specifically on how to make the collar for the inner tunic for Obi Wan Ep 3. I’m trying to figure out where to sew and how to fold etc and for the life of me can’t figure it out and don’t want to ruin it or do it wrong. So yeah any advice would be much appreciated!

Here's my bookmark, and lessons learned.

http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=82924

there is a little mini diagram in the Inner Tunic pattern pdf that took me a bit to figure out and modify.

First, cut a wider piece of cloth than you think you'll need. You can trim the excess, but you don't want to come up short. Say at least 22 cm wide.

In general, we're going to be accordion folding the cloth, with each fold 1.5 cm lower than the one before it.

1. Measure 8 cm and attach one-sided fusible interfacing to the inside of your work piece. This will be the Back of your collar.
2. Fold over the top of the interfacing and crease. Crease 1 will be the top edge of your collar.
3. Measure 3 cm from the top edge, fold up and press. (Crease 2.)
4. measure 1.5 cm from Crease 2, and stitch along this line.
5. Fold down over the stitching and press. (Crease 3.)
6. Measure 3 cm from crease 3, fold up and press. (Crease 4.)
7. measure 1.5 cm from Crease 4, and stitch along this line.
8. Fold down over the stitching and press. (Crease 5.)
9. Measure 1.5 cm down from Crease 5, fold and press. Open the pressed line; this line is your seam allowance, and can now be sewn to the tunic body.
10. Trim any excess fabric beyond what's needed for seam allowance.

In the diagram below, the IT tunic fabric is brown, interfacing black, stitch points are in orange, the IT body is red. Horizontal axis not to scale.

basically, I found the construction as shown in the PDF to be very weak, it would sag and collapse where the stitching held the pleats closed. So rather than a rolled hem at the top edge, I extended the inside surface all the way down and added interfacing to help give it structure.

Thank you so much, that is amazing! Easy to understand and clear. Now I’ve just got to do it!
