So I'm going to build a Yavin Operations Officer from Rogue One. I'd also like to eventually build a Scarif Marine from Rogue one. So, I'd like as many parts as possible to cross over. The first thing I did was order a Cassian Andor Jacket from Magnoli Clothiers. Specifically, I ordered a White Label Rogue Jacket in brown. Now I have to wait 2 to 3 months! Here's a stock photo.

Woot! This is one of my favorite officer costumes- so jazzed to see more people working on this build! _________________ Legion Costuming Judge: Officers, Rebel Supporters

I have some questions:
1. Can I use a Cassian compad? There are ones that fit in the compad window on Etsy. I just want to know if they will work for a Generic Operations officer or is that one specific to Cassain?
2. Can I use over the counter BDU pants for this costume? Over the counter BDU's have front and rear pockets. Is that ok? Cargo pockets are ok right?
3. I was thinking about using my DL-44 that I already own as a blaster for this costume but the CRL doesn't specify a holster. Am I ok making one as long as it looks "star warsy"? Also, I was thinking of going with a leather belt with octagonal buckle so that I can add a leather holster. Sound like a sound plan?
4. I was going to go with a Chelsea boot. The Chelsea boots seem to have elastic or zippers. The CRL doesn't mention either one. Which one is ok?
Thanks for your help! _________________

1. The basic transponder is very close if not the same as Cassian's. You should be fine there.
The transponder here should be ok:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2815311
2. I think you should be fine with over the counter BDU's. There is not a clear back view of the pants, there definitely *are* cargo pockets. Patricia is using Tru-Spec.
3. The blaster is optional because we never see one in the control room. A Star Warsy holster should be fine as is any era-appropriate rebel blaster.
4. The Chelsea boots look like they have zippers in the references, elastic should also be accepted. _________________ Legion Costuming Judge: Officers, Rebel Supporters

I was wondering about these boots. Would the elastic be a problem? The boot cuffs would cover some but not all of the elastic.

I do not think that the elastics of your shoes would pose a problem. I wear Chelsea boots with elastic for my Signals Intelligence Technician and low leather boots with a zipper for my Senior Officer. You have look very closely to see a difference. The only person that will ever look that closely at your boots is your costume judge. No regular person will know the difference.
I am more worried about the soles of your boots. They look very thick and have these strange indentations. The boots used in Rogue One had thin, more basic soles. I am not a costume judge and the CS does not say what type of soles your Chelsea boots should have, so your soles might be ok.

I will try to find some different boots. I ordered some tru spec BDU pants in khaki.

Hopefully these will work for both the Yavin Operations Officer and the Rebel Scarif Marine. _________________

Tru-Spec BDU pants are great. I wear mine a lot and have different colors. Rothco are ok too but I prefer Tru-Spec.
Khaki is a good color choise. Khaki and (Chocolate) brown are the two colors that can be used for all Rogue One Officer/Trooper costumes. That is one of the reasons I like the Rogue One costume so much. _________________ RIAD GRRRL-Squad-Leader 2019-present

Mike, I found these that might work? I'm not sure what size you wear, but it might give some ideas for keywords to use.

Nice find. Those boots look very good and have no straps to cut off first. _________________ RIAD GRRRL-Squad-Leader 2019-present

Question: I’m doing Chelsea Boots. Do the boot cuffs have the greeblies? Or can they be plain? _________________

The standards for GSC and RAID dont specify greeblies for the boot cuffs, so I would say its optional. That's where the new standard format is good.....we can add an 'optional' category for details like that.
The greeblies are on the right boot and the buckle is on the left boot (which looks like one of the parachute ones without the tensioner, I'll have to double check). _________________ RLGSC, DXO

I agree since the CS does not state if the anklet cuffs need to have the greeblies or not it should be optional. The cuff closes on the outside of the boot from front to back. The closure seems to be Velcro or magnets. In this clip at timestamp 0:43 you can see a close up of the right boot used in Rogue One. The last two screencap is a left boot with the buckle that tenebris mentioned.

Mike, I wanted to make sure you had seen Patricia's thread that includes the link to the calculator for drafting the shape of the cuffs. Her build thread has some really great pictures for the process she used to build hers as well.

As far as the greebs go, I agree that they would be optional.
Patricia- great refs above! Thanks for sharing those. We'll get them added to the library. _________________ Legion Costuming Judge: Officers, Rebel Supporters
