Would these goggles work? I know I'd have to replace the strap.

I think the goggles would work, but I am not a costume judge. I had the same NVA goggles as LSKIV, but mine fell apart on a troop about 5 weeks ago. They did not survive the heat, so I have to find some other goggles. I am thinking of getting coyote-colored military goggles from MFH.

Sometimes you can find the real goggles on Esty or eBay, but they are usually very expensive because they are rare.

Hey, Kman. My real name is Patricia, not Pam. Smile

PLCE Belt and Blaster arrived. I plan to paint and add 3d printed parts to make the blaster accurate.

PLCE Belt questions:

1. I know the belt is to be turned inside out. What do I do with the excess thick part of the belt?

2. Do I cut off the metal parts on the back of the belt?

3. Do I cut off the pull tab that's attached to the roll pin buckle?

Whoops, sorry Patricia! Yes, it says your name right above your picture, I was just juggling too many things. Smile

Mike:

1) What excess?

2) I'd leave the metal rings for now. Put them on the bottom when wearing it, of course. Maybe decide to cut them off later, or just don't worry about them. Not likely visible.

3) Remove the pull tab on the buckle by carefully cutting the stitching apart. You may want to re-use that matching 1" webbing.

Any judges want to weigh in on the goggles I posted? The originals are expensive.

Kman,

1) if you look at the picture, there’s the buckle, the thin inner webbing that’s goes through the buckle, then the thick webbing. Because the belt is turned inside out, that thicker webbing is just kinda flopping around. Does that make sense?

Yes! I see what you're referring to now.

I honestly can't recall how I dealt with that. I'll check mine when I get a chance, and report back. Might be a bit before I can unearth that bin...

Have to sew on the flares. Does anyone know if I need the pull tab on the buckle or not? I was thinking of using the webbing from the pull tab to sew on the flares. Thanks.

No pull tab. And yes, it's the perfect size for the flares. Smile

My vest arrived. I can see that it needs a new com pad. Also a panel is needed in place of the yellow paint. What else will it need for approval?

I am not an expert, but I think you only have to change the compad. The yellow paint is ok as far as I can tell. Perhaps you could weather the paint a little bit.

I'd repaint that paint panel, personally. It's really easy. Then plain old spray paint goes on easy, cracks easily (once well-dried) with a little light sandpaper or wire brush, and it'll look a lot better than the stock paint job did.

Also, the straps across the back should not go ALL the way across the back, as seen in the screen shot posted above:

I'll study it a bit more if I have time, but that's my initial take. (I'm moderately motivated to look more into it, as I intend to pick up one of these cheap vests myself at some point in the next year)

Yes, in the movie the straps do not go all the way across of the back of the vest. I do not think the back of the vest needs to be changed but that is my opinion and I am not a cstume judge. Quite a few of our Scarifs Marines were approved with similar vests. I would only change it if the judges ask for the change in the approval process.

Found some goggles on Ebay. It took a while to find some that would work. I think these should to the trick. Obviously the strap needs replacing.
