|
|
|
Hello! I am currently working to put together a generic Jedi outfit for a future membership application.
Don’t want to cosplay another Jedi from the movies or stories but instead one that represents me ... or at least a character of my creation.
Outfit ... Anyone ever use TheStarWarsCloset on Etsy?
Also, are there any limitations on colors for the tunics and robe?
Shoes ... Any recommendations on places to start?
Thanks in advance,
— Mike T. |

Here is a link to one of her tunics, which is says is made to Rebel Legion costume standards.
Want to make sure before I commission work to be done.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/739282135/jedi-under-tunic-in-natural-crinkle?ref=shop_home_active_4&frs=1
And also if you look at that thread, you will see a lot of possible colors. I want to make sure I don't make a misstep and go with a color that isn't within the costuming guidelines of the Legion as well.
VERY excited about putting together an outfit for review and becoming a member of the Legion, so want to make sure I do so right.
My journey actually began by getting a pair of lightsabers ... one I built at Obi's Workshop on Batuu (Galaxy's Edge built last weekend) and the other a combat ready one from Ultrasabers.
Through a story I'm working on for NPR (freelance journalist / photographer), I got to meet a lightsaber sparring / fencing group here in Virginia which I'm looking forward to joining after the story is complete.
Have cosplayed Star Trek for several years now and am Klingon ... But have friends in the 501st with a love of Star Wars that goes back to my earliest days. BUT ... I'm not Empire material, so here I am with dreamy eyes seeking assistance to turn a dream into reality here with the Legion.

I have not personally used that vendor (anyone else who has, please chime in!) but that tunic looks good in the photos. Good fabric choice, good cut. Pretty much all the options in crinkle gauze look good for a tunic, except some of the brighter blues/ oranges. For the RL, the general color guidelines is simply "muted colors". As long as you don't go too bright, and don't make it just a combination of black and red, your probably fine. When it doubt, though, feel free to post pictures here of the specific colors you're thinking of, and we can take a look!
(Now, putting on my other hat because you mention one of your sabers is combat-grade: are you intending to cross-submit to Saber Guild?) _________________ Caitlin Jacques (she/her/hers)

Saber Guild is one of the other LFL recognized fan clubs, that does lightsaber choreography. A fair number of us have Jedi that are cross submitted between the RL and SG. Looking at your location, the nearest Temple to you is Dathomir in DC. If you are interested in more info, feel free to PM me or check out the website at www.saberguild.org. _________________ Caitlin Jacques (she/her/hers)

That last on is the only one that somewhat canonical, so that is what I would go with if doing a d-ring instead of covertech. _________________ Caitlin Jacques (she/her/hers)

Choice C is the most 'screen accurate'. _________________

Got it. Choice C it shall be.
Now for the Covertech (as I have one of those as well) ... Are there any preferred ones out there beyond the standard plastic ones? |

Nah, the standard black plastic is canon. _________________ Caitlin Jacques (she/her/hers)

Ok ... Last set of questions for the moment.
Any recommendations for a good comfortable set of boots that are reasonable in price? (Have to watch my pennies.)
And what all do I need to go on my belt and any recommended sources for such? My current belt has one pouch already on it.
OH ... and pants. Any recommendations for an inexpensive pair that would look the part? outfit will be shades of brown with black belt and shoes so was thinking black pants? |
