Hi, I'm looking in the forums about Mon Mothma's suit but I still have a lot of doubts. Already in step 1: the type of fabric. I see that linen or crepe is usually used. I have looked in a store in my city and I have these two linen candidates. Would they be valid? Is it better in crepe?

Yay! Another Mothma! As far as fabric goes, those might work, but I think it will depend on what the hand (how they feel) is like after they are washed? You want something that will drape well.
I've seen similar linen wash up to something that would work well is there a way you could test a swatch?
My ROTJ Mothma is a linen/silk blend, and the combo works really well.
Just to double check, are you interested in making the Return of the Jedi version or the Rogue One version? (The fabrics used are different.) _________________ Legion Costuming Judge: Officers, Rebel Supporters

Thanks for the tips. I think your suit is very good, so I will keep them in mind. I will ask for swatches.
I want to make the ROTJ suit. I am quite clumsy with sewing. Has anyone made a pattern?
(I translate with google, forgive my algorithmic English)

I'll try and sketch out what we did later today. _________________ Legion Costuming Judge: Officers, Rebel Supporters

So we used the entire width of the fabric. We folded the length so it was draped on either side- slightly longer in the back because tushes are a thing.
We then added about a six inch wide strip of fabric to either side because the fabric was not wide enough to give the length on the sides once the pleat was added.
Then we marked the neckline using a pattern guide and cut it out. I would suggest also adding shoulder/side seams. (So making the poncho out of two pieces of fabric; front and back.) I did not, and the screen used poncho has them. If I were to remake this, I would make the body out of two pieces.
Once the neckline was cut out I put it on and had a friend mark the pleats on either arms and round the hem so there were not pointy handkerchief-like points on either side.
The hem and neckline were finished by hand, as was the pleat.
You can sort of see the shape we ended up with here- it's more even in person, but the carpet and feline overlord were messing with it.
Pleats:
Pleat and side- note the side pieces are pulled out so you can see them, usually they are tucked in because of the pleat.

Thank you very much for the explanation and the images, I think it will help me a lot!
Now I have a long list of shops to visit... we will continue to report.
