Hello everyone,

Thank you for access to Rebel Legion forum.

I am a member of both the 501st Legion - Everglades Squad and Saber Guild - Dagobah Temple with an approved Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine costume.

I would like to bring balance to the Force, by working on a new screen accurate Master Yoda - Revenge of Sith version. [Based on CGI, not puppet.]

My plan to make this convincing for Rebel Legion approval, includes a high quality mask from Chris Stephens Creations. I plan to work on robes designed/scaled for adult wearer in crouching stance, to simulate Yoda's stature. Also plan to incorporate a screen accurate Yoda lightsaber.

I believe Master Yoda - Revenge of Sith version would be a fun and unique crowd pleaser at Rebel Legion/501st trooping events!

Appreciate everyone's positive input for approval.

Look forward to joining the Knights of the Jedi Order (KJO) with a WIP challenge that is nine-hundred (900) years in the making!

Yoda 1

Just as a heads up before you spend too much money - in general, the puppet characters have not been ruled as approvable costumes in the past. I would seek clarification from the LMO about whether thisncostume can be approved before proceeding.

Hello Caitlin,

Appreciate your response. Understand Yoda has not been approved in the past.

Look forward to seeking Rebel Legion re-consideration for approval of a new screen accurate Master Yoda - Revenge of Sith version, which is CGI based, not puppet based.

Thank you again.

Apologies for contradicting you, but Yoda has been consistently rejected in the past few years at least, and per both the Detachment and the LMO team, no version of Yoda is approvable at this time. While one version was CG, it was still the CGI equivalent of a puppet, as opposed to motion capture with an actor. While you are welcome to try and make your case to the LMO again, that answer is unlikely to change.

Yes. As Yoda was never a costume that was facilitated with a human being, it is not one viable for approval.

If you'd like to make a quality puppet to scale that would be great. A handful of people have and been cleared for events and whatnot.

There are plenty of costumes never worn by a human though, AOTC clones, Ahsoka, pretty much anything else animated (e.g., Rebels characters). Yoda was animated, maybe that version would be acceptable for JediDad?

The animated versions are clearly meant to portray the puppet. Characters like Ahsoka can be reasonably interpreted into real life as things that humans can wear/be. Yoda cannot. Therefore, that is unfortunately still a no.

Good evening everyone,

xAlpha - Appreciate your positive input.

My objective is bringing a screen accurate Revenge of Sith version and troop- able Yoda costume to life for Rebel Legion and 501st events. I am not interested in a puppet.

Would really appreciate Rebel Legion support for a new approvable Yoda costume. Given the Rebel Legion's approval of adult size Jawas, Ewoks, and multiple other animated Jedi costumes (which were never portrayed at adult human size), this gives strong basis for approval of a new Yoda costume.

Also thanks to the awesome new series "The Mandalorian", we have at least three canon members of Yoda's mysterious species; Master Yoda, Master Yaddle, and "The Child" affectionately known as Baby Yoda.

This now reasonably presents the opportunity for me to pursue a new Generic Jedi of Yoda's species for approval. As it is unknown how tall members of this species may grow throughout their long life spans, between the ages of 50 to 900.

Best wishes to everyone for the holidays!

Yoda

re: adult size jawas

adult size jawas are actually in the movie.
in ANH, the jawas range from about 3 feet tall, all the way up to about 5'6"

here is a screenshot of some adult size jawas:

(for reference: Anthony Daniels is 5'9" and the costume adds about 2 inches more -- so 3PO is standing @ roughly ~5'11" in these pics -- and these jawas are nearly the same height as 3PO. I would guess these jawas are about 5'6", as depicted in the original movie).

the reason the RL allows adult sized jawas, is because jawas are actually shown to BE adult-sized, in the actual movie.

Yoda , on the other hand, is only 66cm tall (or 26 inches) -- he is only about 2 feet tall.

I think "Yoda was only 2' tall" is a much better argument than "he's a puppet" (a puppet that, like animated things, still rpresents a living being). That's pretty dang small, not really a way to represent that.

No there isn't, outside of, a puppet, which is fine to do, but...

We don't approved puppets in either Legion (IG-88, General Grievous, etc.), only costumes.
