I'm specifically interested in how close of a match the fabric on her vest needs to be. Does anyone know?

There is a standard in progress:

There is also a FB group if you do those. Cara Dune Costuming Group, I think it's called.

The screen accurate fabric is from Parallel Life Studios and is pricey.

Many are using "scuba hex" from YaYa Han as a replacement. (Including me - I covet the other, but out of my price range right now. So I'm making a substitute/mock up using the cheap stuff and maybe one day I'll upgrade - don't want to mess up the good stuff on a first try anyway, as this one is a bit beyond my current skill set.)

Also, the scuba hex supposedly was out of stock for many people recently. It still is in my local store, but seems to be dwindling in availability. If you decide to go with it, I freaked out and bought extra. I probably have two yards (unaltered) I can sell once I'm done. We shall see.

Hello!

Right now we don't have a finalized standard. The link someone else shared above is the draft and what we finally go with will be similar. We also haven't had anyone approved yet. Once judging starts, we'll probably have a better idea of what the ranges will be for acceptance.

this group on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/570584660139672/ - has a bunch of Cara costume experts and should be able to answer a lot of questions too.
