I am a little confused. Why are you using a roll pin buckle? If I am not mistaken, the gunners are wearing a black riggers belt buckle. I am not sure which version because it is very difficult to see. It could be either the version that is made out of one piece of metal or the two-piece version with the moving pin.

im not able to see the images clearly enough to discern that it is what you are showing, but I dont have that style of buckle, I would have to order it, and wait again. Id rather move forward into judging, then order something that might or might not be needed.

Ill use my favorite aircraft log book entry;

Upon further examination, I have determined that two different belt buckles are in use Both the flat rigger type, and the round , curved roll pin type are seen, as evidenced by the lack of reflective curve on the rigger type , adn ther reflectiion seen on the upper curves of the roll pin type. Both flat and curved may feature a sliding metal center bar, which the belt meterial may or may not be mounted to. The Lt that is in tjhe gun turrent clearly has a black rigger type, with the stitching to the wearers right, where the belt material meets the buckle and it stitched to it. The others do not show this attachment, and you can see where the material passes over the center bar and under the other side. In one of the screengrabs I enlarged, you can see where the mateiral is tucked under the top edge of the belt, like I do with mine I believe the officers have the flat, black metal rigger type and the troopers have a mix of types based on what I can see. One of them even appears to be silver, the original color.

Id reall love to get some judge input, since Im seeing what I believe to be both types in use.

I think Leia, Luke, and Lando also wear the same belt buckle as the gunners. What do you think?

Here is a scan of an ERT and General Cracken from one of my Star Wars books. I know that promotion photos from books are not the best sources out there but I think that there is a possibility that the ERTs wore the same buckle too.

yeah the commanders are wearing the same buckle. The scans are better than the BTS images. you can see how crackens promo belt turns back on itself to the left. Lando's belt is probably the best of all the images,

I found an old belt buckle off of my Cobra Desert Sniper where I had t put three belts together to make one i can wear. I HATE that hat is called 2xl is nowhere near that actual isze, and I have to purchase multiple to make one, I will swap to that. I want to build the officer's variant so I will match what we can see on these new images.

i took a look at the game images you posted a while back. it is the same belt.

It is good to hear that you do not have to buy another belt buckle because you have one from another project. I think it is interesting that the OT and the book have been out for years but we keep learning new things about the costumes used in the films. I am looking forward to seeing all the improvements as a finished costume.

Looks like a shortened A7A Cargo Strap which was used as a web belt before Rigger Belts became fashionable.

Luke, the ERTs, and the gunners could be wearing A7A Cargo Straps but Leia and Lando are not wearing one. The A7A buckle is made out of two pieces, an outer rectangle, and a movable centerpiece. Lando's and Leia's belt buckle has to be made out of one piece because they could not wear it the way they are if the centerpiece could move. I think the buckle is just a 40mm or 50mm black metal slide buckle with a slight curve.

ive known that the triglides could be curved, but ive never seen one that big before, in the 2" /50mm range,
I looked up the A7A belt, I have never heard of this before, but there is an vendor out there making 8 foot belts out of 1.5" webbing, which is too skinny for this use.
The buckle I have is the sliding center style riding inside of a retangular frame.

A buckle with a sliding center will work for Luke, Gunner, and ERT. It will not work for Leia and Lando because they close their belt in a strange way. Perhaps they have some extra Velcro to keep their belt closed. I would say your buckle is good to go for your regular gunner and your officer gunner.

I always have to close with velcro. None of my belts will stay cinched up, and I close them by looping under the other side, or hooking back to the feed side. I go through lots of velcro.

The Prop Store auctioned Carrie's ROTJ belt so there are great pictures available.
