Endor Luke question...

Hello friends -

Can someone please confirm WHAT type of belt Luke should be wearing outside his poncho for his Endor look?

Research has turned up every possible variant in what it should be.

Some photos show his ROTJ belt.
Some photos show an army style web belt.
Some show the octagonal buckle.
Some show a sliding thingie.

Cosplayers, stills from the movie, action figures....they all vary. It's maddening.

What is the correct way to go for this look?

CRL says the web belt, with the leather belt being optional.

no, it means the web belt is always required for approval;
the leather belt is considered to be an optional accessory.

the web belt is listed under "required items" in the CRL after all.
so this is something that the judges WILL need to see, in order to approve the costume.

the leather belt is only listed as "optional" in the CRL.
so you are allowed to wear it, as an accessory, if you want.

(usually, this means the item is only seen on screen in maybe one or two shots...
so it is not considered essential to the overall costume).




example: Luke VI Jabba's Palace

in the movie, when Luke shows up at Jabba's palace, he is NOT wearing a belt at all...
that is why his belt is not listed among the "required items" for this version of the costume.
(so you do NOT need a belt, of any kind, to be approved).

however, during the hologram scene in Jabba's palace, Luke IS wearing the belt...
that is why the belt is only listed as "optional" for Jabba's palace.
(so you ARE allowed to wear it, as an accessory, if you want).

^^ the belt is not present in every shot, of every scene -- so it's not listed as a "Required" item.
(in fact, the belt is only worn once, during the hologram scene -- so it's only listed as "optional").





in the case of ENDOR:

in the movie, it appears that Luke wears the web belt over his poncho at all times*

it seems the only time we ever see the leather belt on Endor, is at the Ewok village,
when Luke takes OFF the poncho.

we can only presume that the leather belt is being worn UNDER the poncho, during his entire time on Endor.

(layers: web belt, worn over top of the poncho, worn over the leather belt (optional), worn over the black tunic).

What Cobalt said. Web belt through the slits in the poncho. Leather belt underneath if you want.

Nice thing about that is the web belt is cheap and easy to come by.
