|
|
|
I know there's one topic on SotE Leia costume here already, but as it is mostly about the version inspired by book and Hildebrants' pictures, I started this new one.
I'm working on the costume of Leia from Shadows of the Empire comic book. The blue one from the part Xizor tries to "influence" her and I'd like to consult with you her cloak.
The thing is, that in comic book her cloak seems to be of the same colour as her jumpsuit and doesn't seem to be transparent. On the contrary, the action figure from comics pack has the cloak of lighter colour and transparent.
So, what do you think - should I make the cloak transparent as well (of the colour matching the jumpsuit), or should I make it non transparent as it seems to look like in comic book?
Of course that as soon as I get to make some photos and there'll be something to report, I'll show you my progress in here. _________________ "I'll be honest with you Bob. My name is not Kirk. It's Skywalker, Luke Skywalker." - Jack O'Neill in Stargate "1969"

Personally, I'd go with the comic book version. _________________ Active: Legion Member

Thanks guys for opinions! Sometimes it's hard to decide without consulting someone else.
Yep, I've read this thread. It reassured me even more, that I want to focus mainly on comic book version. _________________ "I'll be honest with you Bob. My name is not Kirk. It's Skywalker, Luke Skywalker." - Jack O'Neill in Stargate "1969"

Comic book version looks much better. Also, you have to consider what's it like to actually wear the costume, and that sheer wrap would probably not hold up well if you trooped in it. _________________ LCJ - Jedi and Officers

So, after the weekend of sewing here's what I promised - my and mum's progress:
It's just the quick test so there are unfinished things and my hair is just quickly swept aside for the effect. Sewing is mostly done. However there's still a lot of craftwork ahead of me. Shoes need to be died or covered with material of the same colour as the unitard is. I need to make the hair clasp, the hair band, the little brooch for the necklace and I have to spray the buckle with goldish colour.
Yep, and because I forgot to take the photo without the cloak, here's the photo of the unitard itself (and of the leggins which we've turned into gauntlets ). Just for you to have an idea what it looks like.

I think it looks great! Love how you used the legs of another unitard's legs for the gauntlets! |

A bit late to the conversation, but I know that the action figure is more canon since in SotE, it was mentioned that the garment Xizor had given her to wear was pretty much see through, so Leia's wore a dark jumpsuit underneath it, which would make sense for the shawl/cape thingy to be sheer. Granted, I haven't read the comic book to know how close the book and comic relate, but I hope that helps! _________________ Retired LCJ, BCO, & BXO

Hmm... The comic and book differ a lot in this. I like the comic version more. So I started with that. But I'll probably make the transaprent shawl-like version too. It's the easier one from those two. _________________ "I'll be honest with you Bob. My name is not Kirk. It's Skywalker, Luke Skywalker." - Jack O'Neill in Stargate "1969"

Bossi, I really like your SotE Leia outfit. It fits well, looks good and I think, it suits you. My general first impression is very good. Keep on with the good work. _________________ I'm a German boy. I can say Tschüss.

I'd probably go for the see through, mostly because the book says it's see through. But to be honest I think I'd end up with both versions as well. It did annoy me how different the book version and comic version are(both in style and color), so I guess it's really a matter of going with what you prefer.
Your progress looks good. _________________
