I ordered a buckle from the uk and it came anodized in a gold color. I just wanted to post that spraying easy-off oven cleaner on it and letting it sit for ten minutes took the gold right off. Use appropriate protective gloves when handling

That's an excellent technique, thanks for sharing. Here's what another member did to remove the gold coloring ...

I also removed the gold coating from the roll-pin buckle. I used a wire wheel in a drill press set on the slowest speed. I think it worked perfectly.

I do really appreciated that. That clarify the source of the buckle. FYI, I do believe that website belongs to a banned member. I do not know the reason for the banning, but be careful ok. Wink

I'm pretty sure that you are talking to that banned member... using yet another sock-puppet account to promote his own stuff.

As for getting the gold color off of these, you can put a wire wheel in a drill press and buff it and that will remove it. I've had a batch of these come in from my supplier that had the gold color finish. It comes off with a tiny bit of work Smile

I just want to add that I tried the oven cleaner method and found that while it did work, it also took away some of the shine.

Another method that worked perfectly for me was a mixture of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 salt. Let soak for about 30 mins. Rinse and rub a bit with a sponge. Took away the tarnish and left the silver nice and shiny.

I did the same thing. Vinegar for 30 minutes soaking, then scrubbed it with a green scotch brite pad, and the gold was gone.

That's a good trick.
