You don't have to cut it off. just cut where the strap meets the vest then re sew the vest higher up on the strap. leaving the excess strap on the inside of the vest then if you mess up you still have room for adjustment.

Looks good. Give a tug on the front so the bottom of the front and back are fairly even.

Adjust the chestbox straps so that the top of the box is close/touching the bottom rib on "the gap" and so the waist strap is below the vest and sits close to horizontal.

We get a lot of submissions where the neck loop is so short, it looks like they are wearing a "chin box" Laughing
