On September 6, 2014 at 0830 members of the 501st Legion, MidSouth Garrison and Rebel Legion Corellian Base teamed up for Autism Speaks at Centennial Park in Nashville, Tennessee. This is a walk for Autism awareness that the MSG has participated in for many years. The kids look forward to seeing the star wars characters at every year. The weather was perfect for troops, jedi, officers and other characters to engage in photo ops with children and their families. There were educational tents throughout the park with games and other fun things for children. Popcorn and cotton candy were both a huge hit but the biggest hit was Star Wars! It was very special seeing the smiling faces of kids and families. After the walk kicked off, characters lined up at the end to greet walkers with high fives and encouragement as they finished. The event ended with Erik taking photos in front of the Parthenon. Several of us went to Logan’s for lunch afterwards. It was a wonderful day. _________________ Stay on Target |
