Hello all!
I've recently had my ceremonial Leia finished...well, all except for the shoes. I'm at a total loss as to what would be approvable. Does anyone have any suggestions? This is the only thing that's holding me up as far as sending in my pictures for approval.

I would search for "2 inch heeled shoes/slippers." I was able to find 2 inch dyable slippers on ebay, and I dyed them silver Smile

I'm also working on a Ceremonial Leia. Smile

I'm wondering if these shoes would work. They come in white, and I could paint them silver.

As a bonus, they look pretty comfortable.

edit: I know they are only 1.25 in heels, but I'm inclined to go a bit low since I'm already 5'9".

These are pretty similar to what I have - I haven't gotten mine approved yet, but I bought the same model of shoe as several other approved Leias had used.

Another Ceremonial Leia in progress here! I was just getting ready to post a question about the very same shoes Jaxxa posted. Smile So those heels are indeed acceptable for Ceremonial Leia, then? I was wondering if they'd be considered too short.

The standards say "up to 2"." It also said 2" is preferred.

These shoes have a heel height of 1.25", so I've assumed they are approvable though perhaps not "perfect." I received my pair and they have a very distinct visible heel, so I'm hoping they'll be good.

In my case, I view the shorter heel as a plus since I'm 5'9" and I don't want to make my Leia any taller than need be. Wink

I can confirm that the color and texture of the shoe is dead on. It'll save me grief since I won't have to paint them.

Sorry for the slow response. I wanted to confirm that, yes those heels are approvable. Great find Jaxxa!

These are mine:

I'm also a tall Leia (1.8 m) when wearing those shoes, but I like them.

Thanks!

It's really hard to find perfectly accurate shoes for this one. The best shot of the shoes is actually from a promo picture that might not even be what she's wearing in the movie. They're a weird combination of elements. You've got the metallic silver color, which isn't that common outside of strappy dress shoes. They're closed toe and the toe goes higher up on the foot than usual. The heel is square, more like what you'd find on a boot.

Finding all of that, and in a size that fits, is probably near impossible unless some shoe manufacturer just happens to start making them again.

I have a pair of silver character shoes that I removed the straps from. They work quite well.

Great find! I ordered a pair also.

Now my other question: is there any trick in spray painting them silver? Still a n00b when it comes to costuming.

I've never tried spray paint, but I did color my first pair with silver sharpie. It worked fairly well. Just had to be careful to to create too many smudges with the sharpie,

I would avoid standard spray paint. I am not certain that that will stay on your shoe without flaking off.

I have been very satisfied with Nu-Life shoe spray in the past, and it looks like they have some in silver: http://www.amazon.com/Meltonian-Shoe-Color-Spray-Silver/dp/B00GEZ5L86/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1422859873&sr=8-3&keywords=silver+shoe+paint

Not spray paint on shoes, but I've tried painting both a belt and pair of shoes with silver paint. Had to apply multiple times with strokes in different directions, but the end result where good and lasting. I doesn't remember the brand though. (I've got the paint somewhere, I'm just not sure of where).
