im at the 85% point on Ywingfighterfranks helmet, it will be done by 5PM thursday night (the ultimate deadline for completion).

I am ready to sew the supplied brown vinyl over the edge roll, but how far does it extend around the head opening? does it form a complete loop all the way from the bottom back rim all the way around the mandibles, back under the bridge and to the back of the top rim?
ive looked at a lot of pics, but i cant tell what it does in back.

thanks---pics AFTER the unveiling on Friday at Geekonomicon in Biloxi

In pictures of the A-wing pilot helmet that was up on an auction the edge lining went all the way around the helmet, though that helmet was also an unfinished prop so I don't know if that's completely accurate.

In the helmets that were shown in the Star Wars Costumes book the edge lining looks like it goes to roughly the center of the shield and stops, and there isn't any around the back of the helmet.

I know that, at least, for B-wing pilot helmets the edge lining goes about half way along top of the helmet and then is abruptly cut off near where the top portions slant down.

Hmmm....so for my build I would only go around the front of the helmet, from the bridge over the top, to about where the jawbone extension becomes horizontal.....

Does that make sense?

Probably something like that. Honestly, I don't think it'll be a big issue one way or another. I doubt any of the judges would knock you for having lining that's a bit too long or a bit too short.

i posted over in the Helmet showoff topic
but I guess I should update this post as well.

the last thing i need to do is add a small loop clamp from work to hold the heavy guitar wire in place. it bounces around. ill find a old canon plug as well to mount to the left lower side of the helmet.

Looks good. Nice work.

The only problem you might have with getting the helmet formally accepted is the fish thing on the bottom rear of the helmet. If that's a real animal and not a Star Wars animal you might run into problems with it.
