When I style my wig I divide the hair in four parts, those make up the bun in the back. Then I have separate braids that I pin to the bun and up over the crown of the head.

Now I'm still not quite satisfied with the braids that goes over the head, but they tend to get better when the longer and more narrow I make them.

It's hard to explain, but I'll try.

I take the two middle braids and roll them into two buns, quite close to each other. Then I take one of the outer braids and put it under one bun and over the next, then I do the same with the last outer braid. The inner buns provides the general shape and volume for the bun, while the outer braids provides the figure 8 shape of it. When the bun is finished I attach the loose braids under it and loop them over the crown of the head.

Also don't look at the hairstyle that I have in my sig banner, I never noticed that the braids that should go in front had slipped back and are almost invisible.
