I would say yes. If you want you can wait for a second opinion. But if possible make the plates a little less mirrorlike. _________________

Okidoki! Thank you so much, Lora. I will wait for a second opinion just in case. I hope I get feedback soon because I would love to continue with the costume a little bit more before I go back to hospital ^^
So, please, is there anyone else who can give their opinion on my belt? _________________

What do you think? Is the spacing look okay? I would appreciate it if you guys could give me some feedback as soon as posible to go to my local leather workshop and finish it!

I would appreciate it if someone else could give me some feedback on my belt, please. I would like to have a second opinion just to make sure that I can proceed and stick the plates on knowing that my belt would be approvable. In a few days I'm going back to hospital and I would love to have this part of my costume totally finished so I can keep working on the rest of the gown again if I come out soon from the hospital.
Thank you so much for your time, guys, and sorry to bother you all, but it's a bit urgent for me to get feedback as soon as posible because of my actual irregular health _________________

Sorry dear, haven't seen this till now. I second Lora in that the plates are a bit mirror-y. They will still be approvable though (I guess), so it's up to you. But they'd be more accurate if they were more dull.
Here's a pic I took at Madame Tussauds which illustrates nicely what we are talking about:
The knobs are very shiny but the plates are not. But it's more like a detail.
But I have another tip: Make the top of the belt go down/dip a little more in the front. I have the same issue because I used the Handy Belt Guide too It makes the middle plate look too small, but if you cut away some of the leather it should look just right!
Hope you will feel better soon! |

I'd say you are good to go to stick the plates on. Your proportions are quite nice. _________________

Thank you so much for your very quick respond, Jenna. I really appreciate it! I'm glad to know that my belt can be approvable like that just before I go back to hospital. I will stick the plates on and leave the belt completely finish then. I'm hoping to re-do the hole gown again when I come out in several weeks/months, so see you all until then. Love you guys a lot!!

Hello, everyone!! It's been a long time since I've been over here. I just wanted to say that I'm out of hospital and I'm okay. These three months have been fatal for me, but luckily everything it's fine at the moment. I just wanted to say hello and happy new year to you guys.
I'm going to try to do the senatorial gown all over again with the help of an expert dressmaker to get everything right. Here is the blaster I will use for the costume. I've finished painting it this morning. I hope its okay. I just need to keep working on the gown and to improve my buns (I think I have to make them bigger), so luckily I will upload more of my process soon!
I send you all my very best wishes!

Thank you so much, Lora!
I just have a little question for a friend who is doing the same costume as me and would like to become a RL official member (I'm hopping she will join the forums soon): what do you guys think about this wig tutorial? Doing the buns this way could be aceptable to join the RL?

Okay, I see three problems with that what is done in the video.
1. The clips are too big.
2. The buns are too big/wide. (They stick out, because of the large clips).
3. The loose hair in the back of the head.
The method itself is not a problem, but it will need modifications. Having separate wig and buns are a common method. _________________

Thank you, Rupose!
I just go out of hospital and I wanted to work a little bit on Leia's buns. It's getting a bit difficult for me. Nobody said anything about the buns in the first photos I had posted. Here are two new ones. Sorry for the bad quality and light, my camera is rubbish. And also sorry for my face, felling a bit sick again!
Could anyone give me some feedback, please? I think I need advice >__<
And another question... How do you sew the seams, by hand or machine? What's best? _________________

Hm, the buns look a bit too tight, also a bit too small (but naturally the will ger bigger when they're twisted less thighly). Also, when looking at them from the front, they should lay flat. In yours the middle is sticking out. I had the same issue. Requires some practice and many pins
Which seams do you mean? The ones when you sew the two layers together? I sewed the bottom hem with the machine and had to do the sleeve hems by hand. |
