The standard has been in the public forum without discussion for two weeks, so I'm moving the discussion here now. If the detachment has anything to add or to clarify, then please do so. Otherwise this will move to the CSC for finalizing and updating in the end of January.

Ceremonial Leia

1. A white A-line ankle to floor length gown with two layers.
a. Inner layer consist of a sleeveless, ankle length opaque gown with a deep and wide U cut neckline.
b. Outer layer consist of ankle to floor length semi-sheer gown, of a matte chiffon (or similar) fabric. The gown has a train that should be around 12”-16”/30-40 cm long, and the same deep and wide U cut neckline as the inner gown. No visible stitching along the neckline.
c.There are two wing-like sleeves attached to the front of the outer gown in the same material as the rest of the outer gown. They form a distinct inverted V under the bust and go in a straight line down and out to the sides. The sleeves meet in the middle of the neckline with a small pleat that runs diagonally to the left side. The sleeves can be tacked down along the side seam under the arm, front to back, keeping the back of it in place. From the knees and down they are cut so they are knee length in front and about angle to floor length at their longest.

2. The belt is silver and firm leather or a similar material with a soft V curve in front. There can be a white, wide elastic in the back or it can close in the same way as the senatorial belt. There are minimum nine (9) metal pieces on it; eight ( 8 ) elongated octagonal matching with one (1) pentagon shape in the center front. They should be spaced evenly and closely, and additional octagonal pieces should be added to achieve the look if necessary. The pieces have a metal button in the middle around 1”/2.5 cm wide. The belt sits at naval level.

3. A silver necklace with 1”/2.5 cm squares. The necklace should sit closely to the throat. Each square has a 'valley' in the middle and should closely resemble what is seen on the screen.
The original is a Lapponia design by Björn Weckström called Planetoid Valleys.

4. A silver bracelet worn on the right wrist. The bracelet should be wide and have the same proportions as the one seen on screen.
The original is a Lapponia design by Björn Weckström called Darina's Bracelet.

5. Silver dress shoes with a 1”-2”/2.5-5 cm wide heel. The toe should be rounded, not pointed.

6. Hair is pulled back at the crown of the head into a large braided bun with a long braid descending from it. The long braid must be thick and reach down to the lower back and preferably go past bum. It must have at least 5”/12 cm of loose hair at the bottom, preferably more.

Optional:
1. Medal of Yavin.
2. Red lipgloss.
3. Light pink eye shadow and rouge.

Notes:
The whole gown is now under one point, but divided into sections. Each accessory has its own point.
The number of belt plates have been changed after carefully looking at reference. The plates sit more closely on the ceremonial belt than they do on the senatorial. You can find references here: http://www.senate.rebellegion.com/?portfolio=princess-leia-organa-ceremonial-gown
I've added in notes about the original design for the necklace and bracelet.
Makeup is added under optional.

I just received some comments from a non-RLGS member who is making this costume that suggested the following clarifications to the standards:

Quote:
Explain the neckline needs to be low sitting not too high above the breasts.
Add in about the sleeves.
also add in approx. length of braid
It's not too bad the current rules it just needs to include how low the neckline should be & how it is sewed to be included eg no top stich showing
I like the way the trail is optional at the moment as I think if that is a must have us award Leia's could get our hard working costumes ruined very quickly.
I also like the way it currently states the dress must be two layers this helped me.
I like that the medal is optional.
The bracelet is clear just include what side to wear it on
The necklace was also easy to follow.

Based on her comments, I think what needs to be added is some clarification of how deep the neckline should be and that there should be no top-stitching on the neck.

The points she listed is already in the revised standard. Hair length is specified, bracelet on right hand is specified, no visible stitching along neckline is specified, sleeves are specified. U cut does not have measurements, because those will vary greatly from person to person depending on how the breasts sit. It's specified as being deep and wide. Smile

This is what will be sent to the CSC to be finalized:
