Hello all,

I mostly stick to Imperial costuming, but I have become fascinated with Rebel pilot helmets over the past year. I know there are several very talented helmet makers, but I enjoy the process of "making" so, I decided to take a stab at these. Here are a few quick pics of the left Vac buck with a TK dome for size reference. Comments / input always welcome.

Looks like a good start to me! Don't forget the indentations for the left side. There's a round one sort of center on the helmet and a pill-shaped one to the side of the chin. There's also one that's kind of like an up-side down L near the back ridge. Smile

Shoot me a PM with your email, I've pretty detailed pics from events that I can share with you that might help.

And getting another Y-wing helmet supplier is NEVER a bad thing.

Quick update,
only had a few hours / days to work on this over the past week but i'm pretty happy. Both mold halves are tacked together and will be cut apart once i'm happy with the symmetry. hope to start cutting in more detail tomorrow.

Looks like the final update before the first test pulls (hope to knock those out by Tue) I split the mold in half, sanded with 400 grit. The only thing left is a 3/4 inch riser and drill the air passages. My main question at this point is do I make a "movie" visor, or something with a few less facets that will be easier to see through for "trooping"

If you're going to make it, make it accurate.

The first L & R pulls were done this past Tue, and like pancakes, the first few never turn out right, they look good, but boy oh boy did I botch the size. The molds didn't look too big but after doing a quick trim and tacking them together, wow it's HUGE, more like a Apollo space helmet. It's very disappointing, but I'm going to try and thin and wedge it, see if I can get it down another 15 %.

Oh my it's been quite awhile... OK this thing is back on, I refuse to let it beat me. Everything was cut up and resized and i plan on pulling some by the end of May if not sooner. Not sure if there's any interest, but i'm at least making a few for my friends and I. More to come soon.

I'm definitely interested. Been wanting a Y-wing pilot helmet. Smile

Out of curiosity, are you going to be molding on the three screw heads that are on the right side of the helmet?
