Already have the fabric for the dress, i'm waiting for my blaster and boots to arrive (bought them on eBay).
And hopefully getting it down by the end of July, i'm planning a STARWars themed party for my nephew so it would be awesome to have ir done by then.
I'm starting on the easy part, i think, the belt.
I'll be putting gere my stuff as i'm doing it

You're off to a great start here! I'm going to move this thread into the Leia forum so that people can find it more easily. _________________

Yep. A bit low, but a good start.
I think this is the first time I've heard the belt described as easy. _________________ DXO of Royalty & Senatorial detachment

Which tutorial did you use for the buns? I'm comparing a couple of the different methods I've found and trying to decide which one to use.
Looks great so far! I have the material for the belt, but haven't started cutting yet. Hopefully the metal works as easily for me! Are you attaching to leather, or doing vinyl? _________________ Heather "ibejedi"

I used this tutorial http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38334
I'm attaching to leather, this weekend i'll put some pics here.
The sheet metal is really easy to cut with an aviation tin snip with a straight cut, almost like cardboard. _________________ "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only Hope."

Awesome, thanks! That seems to be a popular bun tutorial and I think it's my top contender to try.
Can't wait to see more pics, and I saw your LOTL post too. I remember metal shop class from 100 years ago and it being pretty easy to cut sheet metal, but these things always seem easier in hindsight...glad that it seems to still be that way! _________________ Heather "ibejedi"

Looking great!
You are not alone on the belt, I found that the easier and the more fun part. If I could just get my mind tricked into thinking sewing is no more difficult than working leather, or on 'hard' costume pieces, this would be a cake walk!
Trial and error tip if you need it!: If you run into trouble sewing up the fabric, you may find a serger will work beautifully. I used JoAnn jetset polyester for my dress and tried three sewing machines, multiple needles and settings with my friend before we ran the fabric through her serger. It was too stretchy and the needles just bounced and skipped. _________________ Alpha 75 - "No Instructions? No problem!"
