I am in the process of building a Shaak Ti. My original robe I did was using a twill like fabric and I am not happy with it and plan to remake it. The twill robe I did was a good practice robe that I can now use as a house robe.

So on to the question at hand. The original robe fabric kids confuses me. It appears, from this picture, to be an open weave.

However in other pictures it sees to be a heavier weave, as the shoulder area is the only place this open weave is seen, most likely be case that's where the fabric stretches.

Both of these are open weave, one with stretch, and one without. I plan on dying the fabric myself so ignore the color.
Cotton Jersey (stretch) https://www.dharmatrading.com/fabric/cotton/cotton-jersey-pfd-60-inch.html?lnav=fabric_cotton.html

Linen/ rayon (non stretch) https://www.dharmatrading.com/fabric/55-linen-45-rayon-blend-52-inch.html?lnav=fabric.html

If the robe can be done with a more closed weave. What would you guys suggest? I personally think a 2 way jersey would be nice, like the one above, since both the undershirt and robe appear to be the same material.

Whichever falls the best? The original has a striped texture, but I don't know what weave type to look for to find that kind of fabric.

Yeah the original looks like a knit in some regards but it's not at all noticeable in person. I never registered my Shaak Ti (financial issues mean I have to have a bit of a clearout of my own work every so often, and she was one of those clearouts) but used a heavy rayon crepe as it draped so well.

So I would recommend not trying for the stripe- it might be too obvious and so not look like the image as presented on film and other published media- but definitely something that has a broken surface (like a crepe or a knit with a tiny pattern- but something that disappears at any distance.)

Good luck Smile I'm still debating remaking Shaak Ti myself as I still have my molds and summer has hit very fast which means casting is much easier to control Smile

Thank you guys! So I have some Linen already. But I found this too....

I think I'm going to buy some yardage and dye it brow. I can see how it looks brown if it's not right then I will make a nice tunic to wear with leggings for winter
