Question for all you lovely flame handmaidens/ flame gown Padmes out there: where did you source your appliques? I am currently doing the patterning and research for a mass build of flame handmaidens, and while I have found good sources for the silks and dyes for everything else, but my usual sources for lace are coming up empty when it comes to lace appliques that are anywhere close in appearance to the canonical ones. I don’t mind having to dye them, but I definitely don’t want to have to embroider appliques mysef, so any hints about where to look would be appreciated.

I honestly just found some nice red applique in the store that I could make work. But I've seen some make their own and that looked very nice. Smile

So, for anyone else looking in this problem later, the consensus on FB among the LotL seems to be that we don’t have to exactly match the film lace appliques, so pretty much any Venice lace of the right general shape will do. We found some likely candidates on ebay, as well as some on cheaptrims.com and laceheaven.com. We will have to dye them, of course, but since we are already dyeing everything for this build, it’s not a big deal.

Well, isn't that the truth. Razz You don't get around extensive dyeing with this one.

I hope you will post up the experiments with the lace and how you got to the wanted result here.

And as I remember it we purposefully wrote the standard vague regarding the lace, because we knew we wouldn't be able to find the exact lace, but still wanted this done and looking good. So just get the color and shape right and you should be good. Smile
