I am struggling to identify some of the boots worn by Resistance personnel. The problem I am having is finding boots with completely flat soles like shown in the Visual Dictionary and on screen. Has anyone else had better luck?

Do you think we can make a wedge soled wellington work?

I would say yes with some mods, dark shoe polish and brown and black dye! I think the toughest part would be modding the front to make a smoother appearance.

I found a pair of these for under $40 today!

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Brahma-Men-s-Brey-Pull-on-Wellington-Boot/34517971

I think this pair/company would be better due to the closer similarity to the front of the Po-Zu boots.

http://po-zu.com/products/well-2-brown

All of the movie versions (brown or black) have dyed black soles.

Taking the top strap off the Brahma ones and making one wrap around the top would be easy. The only question I have is, how to deal with the outside seam? I went back through the move stillshots I took with a DSLR camera and watched multiple scenes frame by frame and I have to say, not all of the Officers and other personnel are wearing Po-Zu boots, some are taller, some don not have straps across the top, some have straps at the bottom, some are shiny (vinyl?)...so a substitution of these seems reasonable to me. The only thing in common with all officer/crew/trooper boots I can clearly see is that they are all flat/wedge soled.

Here is the beginnings of the conversion to more screen accurate boots.

The original color of the boots shown here. The top vertical loops have been removed already.

After applying Fiebings brown leather dye and painting the soles black. I have not put top straps back on yet.

I've been commissioning a local leatherworker to make my own boots. So far she's made my OT officer boots, FOTK and Phasma boots. I've sent her a photo and told her i'll be ordering this pair soon.

Should be able to make some for you guys as well. Thing is, since shipping is from Jakarta, Indonesia... shipping cost will be a killer.

Actually it appears that most of the TFA and TLJ Officers wore Po-Zu Well 2 Brown and Black boots. Some of the troopers in TFA, and almost all troopers in TLJ wore them as well I think. The boots shown above are not the screen accurate ones, but with some mods (zipper and upper strap) they may work. The Po-Zu ones are correct.
