It has been determined that Rose Tico is a Trooper costume as most support personnel are in the Trooper category.

Here are some images to look at:

Jumpsuit:

mustard color,
can be weathered,
heavy fabric,
has a hood,
has a pocket on the upper left above the yoke line for a rank badge/id badge,
has a 4 loopes of a tan nylon strapping with "nozzles" on the upper right arm,
has a large pocket with a window and pocket flap on the left thigh with some kind of communication or other device.
Has a yoke line at the top with a large pocket with a flap on the left side upper and a pocket with no flap on the right side upper.
Has waistband/waist seam and appears to be elasticised.

Rank/ID badge

Belt: Same as the Pilots have but also has 5 nylon strapping loops on each side with "nozzles". Not sure if belt is tan or gray in color

Brown neck scarf tucked in - unsure of fabric

Boots: brown - just over calf - no heel

Shock/prod

pendant necklace

This is just a start....

Thanks for starting this thread, Phyllis! Have been trying to some time to nail the fabric down for her jumpsuit, both in color and texture.

I think this is close - thoughts?

I really can't see the item up as close as I would like.

At this time, the item you are showing looks too brown....
that suit also does not have a yoke line nor a hood that I can see...

do you have a link to where that jumpsuit is for sale?

Sorry, should have mentioned, would of course need to "tailor in" the hood and other things in, but was looking for an "off the shelf" coverall or similar to use as a "base" to be modified into the costume.

Having seen many photos, the color depends quite a bit on the lighting. I have seen it look anywhere from yellow to brown.

Aurebesh on the coveralls says:

GLD
Landing
Officer

I've read that her hair is tied back with scrap wire, but I'm not sure what color the wire is.

The wire was copper covered in blue jacket but since I only saw it from the movie, not in any of the released clips or screencaps, only thing we could do would be waiting until they release a clip with the scene or the blue-ray.

Okay, so Rose’s boots are near identical to Poe’s casual boots but the soles are totally different, which made it so much harder to locate one. Especially since the Po-Zu ones are men’s and the smallest would still be too big for Kelly Marie Tran(same for me), I am guessing it’s either custom made, modified, or MAYBE discontinued item in women’s size, seeing that lower soles are used frequently on their women’s line.

footwear is always a problem...and where any of the PoZu boots might currently be available, they will not always be available. Also, there is an issue of size..for example...the boots used for Endor Commandos....where the boots that most of the ERS have is still largely available....they are not available in larger sizes...

so..
we always need alternatives.

doubtful..
that other forum is not really costume standard discussions...
but..

the information is incredibly useful...
so...

I am quoting that thread in this thread as it contains valuable information.

Hello friends,

I just got my Rose Tico costume approved with Rebel Legion and am incredibly excited to be able to troop in it! Especially with the film coming out next week! That said, I've had a number of people messaging me via social media about whether or not I have a build thread with all my references available. This is going to be that thread. Smile I tried to be as thorough as possible, so I hope that it helps aspiring Roses out there! I would love to see more and more of us out there celebrating our first Asian woman lead in Star Wars! <3 Please, if anyone wants advice or has questions, do not hesitate to ask.

THE BUILD:

Jumpsuit/Coverall:
-Long sleeved with a hood that hits about mid-back.
-Double top-stitching across chest, middle front and back of sleeves, side pant leg seams, front pant seams, back yoke, and down the middles of both the right and left of torso (under the lines of stitching across the chest).
-There is a hood attached to the jumpsuit that curves its shape around the shoulder.
-Pants get tucked in to boots and blouse over the top of boots.
-Pouch with a flap and grey webbing tab on left side of chest with 5 lines of stitching down the middle.
-Rank badge pocket sewn just above this pouch.
-Second, slightly larger pouch pocket on left leg with same opening flap that has 7 lines of stitching on left side and 6 lines of stitching on right side (plus one in the middle), around mid thigh ending just above knee (has a front opening for a comm pad type greeblie). Grey webbing tab on flap like on chest.
-Square patch on ride side chest with Aurebesh "GLD Landing Officer" in three lines and faded down, stitching around edge and an inner square.
-Four loops of a tan/khaki colored webbing on right upper arm.
-Middle section waistband has 5 lines of stitching.
-Color is a sort of brownish yellow/khaki olive green (it changes depending on the lighting) with heavy weathering.

Jumpsuit Resources:

-Pattern used (with modifications for sizing, omissions, additional seams, added pockets): http://www.joann.com/kwik-sew-mens-casual-k3389/13254669.html

-Fabric: https://www.fabric.com/buy/0517626/sanded-brushed-twill-honey

-Dye Formula: Yellow Green #513 https://www.ritdye.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/ColorRit_FINAL.pdf

-Rank badge (I commissioned this one personally, so I vouch for the quality of Ltoycreations’s work since I approved the final product. ): https://www.etsy.com/LToyCreations/listing/542149434/3d-printed-rose-tico-jacket-chest-piece?utm_source=Copy&utm_medium=ListingManager&utm_campaign=Share&utm_term=so.lmsm&share_time=1504570566919

-Belt Greeblies: I made these by hand out of Sculpey clay and grooved rubber pencil grips filled with silicone/caulking from Dollar Tree. Painted with Krylon Chrome Spray Paint and weathered with black acrylic (drybrushing).

-Leg Greeblie: this was modeled and made by a friend as a favor so unfortunately, I don’t have the resources to share on this one.

Belt:
Same sand beige colored military belts as the one worn by TFA Resistance Pilots, worn inside out with the pull tab removed. 5 loops of webbing on each side of belt to hold metal pieces. Open loop with a snap attached to a square piece of belt material to hold her tool.

Boots:
Brown with heavy weathering, about mid calf height or just short of it. There is stitching that grooves and curves around the back heel, front toe, and up the middle stopping around ankle level.

-Boots bought for alteration (in Brown Suede): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JJ5QCWQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

WIP Photo:

Hair:
Styled into a ponytail. Slightly layered full bangs. Long layers of hair framing face, flipped out at the ends. Electrical wire to tie ponytail (blue and black color with tips stripped).

-Wig (can use “foreversong10” discount code for 10% off because I collaborated with the wig maker!): https://posewigs.com/products/pwhfpai3

Additional Details:

Necklace:

Silvery reversed comma-looking pendant with etchings pendant on a silver snake chain necklace. More details may come out in film, plus Visual Dictionary. I'm remaking this because I thought it was a crescent moon before I saw the bottom half.

Ring:
Details on this are few. Haven't made this one yet as you never really see it...yet.

Tool:
Uses double screwdriver looking tool that is black in the middle and coppery orange on the top and bottom plus on the lower part of the extending silver metal (like rusting).

I will eventually get this 3D printed, but for now I made mine from scratch with two Dollar Tree screwdrivers, worbla, craft foam, and hot glue.

I have no idea how I forgot about the existence of this picture. This one shows the wire hairband pretty clearly, being blue-purple with copper(?).

It's blue wire with the ends stripped, which is where you see the metallic color.

I wish I had been pointed here sooner instead of getting the run around. Anyways I have links to my notes on the costume I'll post below.

One thing I want to add that I don't think was mentioned yet is the hood has a center panel.

Also there are several details I think should be optional, the taser (we know it is a weapon so it can't be required), the necklace (only seen when she pulls it out), the ring (also only seen briefly and much like with the Holdo costume matching specific jewelry can be near impossible), and the inner collar (really only seen i the promo image). I'll link the promo image too because I don't think I saw that above.

Promo image.

I have a wip thread as well over on the rebel supporters section.

As far as the infomation I have is.....The Po -zu boots are not the original screen used boots, just the closest. (I suppose as they have the licence).

The soles differ, I've been looking and looking for a brand that works as a conversion, but everything I've found is either old season stuff, or quite tricky to convert. I know crowprops is currently working on replicating the po-zu for people with bigger and smaller feet.

The other option is re-soling a boot at a cobblers to get that small wedge effect, which depends on people having access to a local cobblers.

Or just finding a plain boot.......which is prob the way to go.

As this are the same base costume as the transport pilot, will the information carry over to those standards? I could'nt find a thread for it in pilots?

How do people do the patch on the right side of the jumpsuit that reads “GLD Landing Officer”? Do people make their own custom like stamp and then just stamp it on? Thanks Smile
