This costume is adorable and I'm entirely sold on it.

With that said, I think that the color range for the pants is a Taupe color to a Mocha Brown color. In terms of specifics, I think that this Pantone color, 18-1028 TCX called "Emperador", is gorgeous and matches the color on the comics. I think the design of the pants should closely resemble BDU pants, with the exception that there are a few less pockets and have a better fit on her, with the narrower legs and higher waist. In terms of the color on the cover being orange, if the colorist and or the artist is different on the cover to the interior I find that they take more artistic liberties with the colors, costumes, etc.

I'm posting my build thread shortly as I finished up the costume this weekend. I have lots of reference and will include it there. Very Happy

RLSC DXO here. I agree as well that it should be in our detachment, for the reasons listed above, but also for judging purposes. This is similar to an OT X-Wing, so it makes sense to have judges looking at it who also judge X-Wings.

Build thread posted.

and submitted with reference. Please let me know if there is anything I need to do from here and thanks for all the help on this.

Soooo, which color?

Cover art says orange, with lots of weathering. Interior coloring shows brown. Personally I'd prefer not to prioritize interior coloring over cover art, but that's me.

And if I'm not mistaken, didn't she fall into or walk through mud?

Of course this is the issue with putting together a costume based on comics, which panel is the reference? I'm not saying brown (or any shade of) is 'wrong', but I think orange is more 'right', based on the universe of Star Wars.
Did the colorist choose brown as a muddy orange, or to differentiate between the Luke and Leia characters a little more?

I think this is going to need some further discussion within the RLSC and the costume judges, etc.

Cover art is one image versus all of the images in the actual comic book. All of those are brown. I would suggest we go with what has more reference. In this case it is a clear reference of brown. At the end of the day, it’s very easy to fix color of pants but I would say we stick with Brown because there are front, back, right, and left images all showing Brown.

Here is the Standards in Progress link since the costume is being proposed to be categorized as Rebel Pilot.

Looks like this will definitely be a royalty costume per ALMO.

The detachment redefinitions are not yet done, so we will wait and see what happens regarding that.

This costume mostly says pilot, but Leia is still a princess, so we are in the grey area in between.

This now makes me hopeful.
