Having trouble with the vest material. Can not find the right color. The Khaki Trigger material suggested is fine if you used a grey jump suit but I am using a tan one. It should have more "yellow" in it. Trying to get a close match. _________________

you could try a faint dye wash. This worked for me when I was adding to my Endor Rebel Trooper soft cap. The antique cloth was a little more yellow than my khaki fabric, but close. So I dyed it, using a big storage bin of water and about 1/4 bottle of yellow RIT dye instead of a whole bottle. Follow the directions on the bottle (using salt, putting in wet fabric, stirring, etc.) and you can also pull it earlier than the 30-60 minutes. It is hard to see the color at all when wet, so you will have to wash out the dye thoroughly and dry it before you can accurately see it. If you are worried about over doing it, do 1/6 bottle of dye, for 20 minutes, and hand wash all the dye out (until the water runs clear), and dry it. If it needs more, you can do it again. |

I received a swatch from the Wampawear tan suit and took a photo compairing it with the Moncal ( Far Away Creations ) suit. This should work out well for Hanger Trooper. It will be easier to find a good color material for the vest.
I did get a Wampa suit , It just needs a bunch of mods since I had to order one that was larger so it would not be too small. Some areas or too baggy. The size down from it is out of stock till April.

Not as quickly as I wanted t. I hit a couple snags. Have to find a new seamstress. I may have to end up getting a cap and vest from Mountain Princess. She has an Etsy Shop. Hopefully I work things out eventually. Got the perfect color suit but it is very big on me and has to be taken in. That will need to be worked on as well. _________________

So I got this. Will have to get a piece of fabric for the backing. I want to make it a pin on, so I can use the suit for Rebel Tech.

Have to switch out the strap to make it more Star Warzy. Got some sliders coming to make the loop things that are on the movie goggles. Not sure if I will figure that out before an event coming up. Probably will just do that part later. Just a quick strap switch for ,when I get the new slider, for now. Let's see if I can learn how to use this thing. Also want to make the strap off white.
I like this close up image because it shows how lite colored the vest really is. I'm going for the lighter color. _________________

Goggles taken apart and ready to mod. Need to make new lens the right color. That is a sample of the tint film I decided on. Couldn't find anything better. A lighter color or something less opaque would have been nice. It's better then the others I found. Need to try and Tea Dye strap to look old and dirty. Also buld side loops to emulate the movie goggles more. Paint new parts and sliders a more dingy white / cream color. Going to have to mix some paint I found at hobby store. _________________

Jeff i just re read your topic. The patch pocket flaps have no quilting. When we did the research on this one for the Standard rewrite we found more photos without quilts than with quilts. Im still not happy with my lens at all. But i still havent found anything to replace it with that wull actually fit my goggles. _________________ Once I was Dewka, but now I'm just G'nott sH'urr

Oh yeah. That's right. I did not even notice that. That sucks. I will have to send it back and see if they will fix it. Oh well. _________________

When it comes to costume building I'm a slow burn. Finally getting back to this after two busy weekends in a row. Getting to tea dying the goggle strap for that old and dirty look. If you are just reading this and wondering what's up? Click on the Album link above.
