Handler Description:

Handlers are what help our characters from the beginning of the event, till the end, which could include helping with kitting and dekitting. You are the eyes and ears for them, also you maybe asked with assisting in set up or breakdown.

If you're interested in being a handler please post in the event with any required info in the description.

You do not need to be a Legion member to be a handler, this is a great way to get introduced to the groups and learn the ins and outs of events and get to know your local members.
Job Description
Crowd Control: This is the most important duty of all. Some characters draw larger crowds than others. Keep a watchful eye over your assigned characters and ensure that the crowds do not get out of hand.

Hazards / Safety:
Many costumes have very limited visibility. Be mindful of the surroundings near the characters to ensure that neither they nor guests are harmed as the character moves around. This includes but isn’t limited to doors, stairs, ramps, curbs, elevators, young children, animals, etc.

Costume Assistance:
Depending on performer needs, escorts may be asked to help a character get into their costume at the beginning. During the event, team members should be ready to help characters in and out of costume as some costumes are difficult for performers to get into by themselves. In addition, be prepared for costume malfunctions that may occur during the event and be ready assist in correcting them.

Usually our legion shirts are what identifies us or if we have any legion shirts and or badges. We have discussed about the possibility of some kind of vest for people who are handling.

Before and after the event:
Be prepared to help run prepare the space prior (banners, setting up props, backgrounds and tables, etc) and then striking the space when the event is complete (breaking down props and tables, removing signs and banners, etc).

Working with the public:
Team members should be willing to take pictures for the public as well as answer questions about the characters, the charity and the event.

If any issues arise, please seek someone from command or any official staff at the event.
