With episode 6 of The Mandalorian, we have our first live action New Republic uniform.
It is a fusion of OT/R1 RFT elements and newer pieces.
The new jacket bears some similarities to the Canto Bight security forces.
There is a belt with black and white pouches (possibly also influenced by Canto Bight), white holster for an A-180 pistol, and off-white boots.
New symbol on the helmet(?), and new padding.
Dark trousers.
Let's get this nailed down! _________________ CO: Rebel Alliance Infantry Detachment

Top to toes:
1. RFT helmet with R1 style padding. Some sort of text on the right side. Looks different than the text seen in R1.
2. Blue woolen(?) jacket. Rank/comm badge on left chest. New Republic logo patch on left arm.
3. Imperial style belt with pouches (aluminum and black leather?)& white holster w/ A-180 pistol. (Emergency beacon attached to the left hip)
4. Matching blue trousers. No apparent pockets.
5. TK style white Chelsea boots.
Any other main elements?
Let's identify the pieces in greater detail. _________________ CO: Rebel Alliance Infantry Detachment

to 2. Yes, the jacket looks like wool or a synthetic/wool-mix fabric.
to 4. The pants are the same color as the jacket. You are correct they have no visable pockets.
to 5. The boots are white chelsea boots, with white rubber part on the shaft and black shoe soles, similar to OT Stormtrooper boots. _________________ RIAD GRRRL-Squad-Leader 2019-present

I saw some more details.
1. The writing on the helmet does not look like basic (Aurebesh) to me. It looks like an F, a comma, a dot, a apostrophe and a the number one. (F,.'1)
2.a The tunic/jacket has belt loops that holds the belt in place. They are close to the side seams. There are seams going from the top of the shoulder going down. They are on the front and the back. So there is some kind of yoke. The collar is a open mandarine collar with rounded corners. The tunic has a similar lenghth as a an imperial tunic. The style of the tunic is closer to a imperial tunic than a Canto Bight Police tunic.
2.b There is a new republic badge on the left shoulder. It looks like it is orange on blue. The greeblie on the chest does not seem to be a rank badge because they called Matt Lanter's character just a New Republic Soldier in the credits eventhough he told the Mandalorian his name. It sounded like Davin or something similar. The light gray/medium gray greeblie has a red pip above a darker gray pip. There is silver or white winged thingy left of the pips.
3. The belt looks like is white leather. There is a smaller white/light gray vertical belt box beside the white holster. There is a blue belt loop between the holster and the belt box. Next there is a larger dark gray horizintal belt box and an imperial belt buckle with a code disc, followed by a larger white/light gray horizintal belt box . Next is the emergency beacon and another belt loop.
4. The pants have a crease on the center of the thighs. I was only able to see them on the front of the pants. _________________ RIAD GRRRL-Squad-Leader 2019-present

Im in Houston at work for the next few days so I will be able to re watch the episode when I get home. The padding is identical to the padding in my real Mark2 helmet, so that's easy to pull off. I didn't think what I quickly saw of the text on the helmet that it looked like typical aurbesh but we have seen the different characters on TIEs for 42 years.
looking at how his sleeve folds back on itself this is definitely a structured coat. _________________ Once I was Dewka, but now I'm just G'nott sH'urr

I am pretty sure that the pants are the same color as the tunic/jacket. You can see it clearly in the scene where the bald guy walks behind the New Republic Soldier as well as some other shots. _________________ RIAD GRRRL-Squad-Leader 2019-present

Hope it's okay if I add to this post
From what I've been able to work out the pants and top are the same colour. The material is very similar to a pair of suit pants I have which is a blend of polyester, viscose and elastane (or at least that's what the tag tells me) but i agree that a wool blend or a synthetic wool blend would probably look more accurate. The belt seems to be shiny. maybe some kind of leather or vinyl?
the basic on his helmet seems to be a backward D C and I and - It's possible the shot was mirrored or is written that way on purpose to make it easier to read for someone looking at him? I'm very keen to start working on this costume |

Glad to see this got started I want to do this someday, and did some screen caps to start the research.
Agreed with the points previously listed:
---R1 MP-style helmet. Glad we can finally see the lining!!
---Tunic is definitely a mod of an Imperial pattern. Front closure in the middle though, instead of the double-breasted flap of the Imperial.
---TK boots.
So the guy is just a "trooper", not an officer? I would think that someone in charge of a ship, even if it's mundane and otherwise crewed by droids, would be overseen by an officer. Just thinking out loud.
Here are my screen grabs:

the first two letters are a mirrored 'D' and a mirrored 'C' in Aurebesh...followed by a normal 'I' in Aurebesh. _________________

Hmm, you are correct about the mirrored Aurebesh 'D' and 'C'. The 'I' usually does not have the line at the bottom so perhaps it is a 1. I wonder why the 'D' and 'C' are mirrored but the 'I' or 1 is not. That is strange. I hope Lucas Film publishes a visual guide for The Mandalorian in the near future. _________________ RIAD GRRRL-Squad-Leader 2019-present

Definitely OT Stormtrooper boots.
Interesting helmet padding... since it's visible, would that style interior be required? _________________
