Hello. I've just started a Crait Leia wip on the Elstree Base forum and would be grateful for any input from costume judges as to my fabric choices. This is what I am aiming for -

THE EDITS I HAVE DONE ARE JUST BECAUSE I HAVE NOW FOUND OUT HOW TO LOAD AN ACTUAL PHOTO (not just put in a link)!!

This is what I have got. The dress fabric is a fishnet overlay on top of a dark chocolate brown layer. The cloak fabric is a non glossy satin, with a little bit of texture and body.

Do you think this looks all right and that I'd be OK to proceed please?
Real thing on the left, mine on the right obviously!

Here’s some addition fabrics that Alex asked me to post - can anyone help give some feedback with this please?

Hello Alex.

Your dress fabric looks like it will work well for this costume and the coat fabric also seems a good choice from what I can see. Smile

I hope you will continue to share your progress here as you work on this costume. We can always use more Crait Leias.

Hello,

I'm am also putting together General Leia Crait outfit from TLJ to be part of the Ohio region. Any suggestions about footwear. I know they are boots without laces. Any input what they should look like would be helpful. I have many ideas. Thanks!!

Black and low to medium heel should be fine. Smile We do not require a certain brand for approval.

I should say that my sewing skills are not up to the costume at all, so a talented RL friend is very kindly making it for me.
The dress is done (a large fishnet overlay on top of a dark brown base).

This is my version of the ring (on the right)

which started off as a plain dichroic glass ring (from Etsy) which I embellished with this gold coloured "paint"

The bracelet I made myself -

using a snake like flexible necklace I found in a charity shop and pale blue glass beads from Ebay. The blueish beads were called "faceted cut rondelle crystal glass beads", in "Blue and Purple". I got 12x8mm for the large ones and 10x7mm for the small ones used near the clasp at the back. The trickiest bit was the three small circles of interlocking gold "cups" but after much trial and error I found using tooth floss was the easiest and a smaller bead in the centre, so keep them in the right position.

The beads in the picture below were what I tried initially but were too green so I changed them for the bluer ones. I just wanted to show the gold cap/cup beads really, to show how they work.

Similar goldtone necklaces are available on Ebay, some much shinier than others. I think the dull is best. Often called "bendy/snake/flexible" necklaces. They do need to be quite long as the three circles in the middle strands take up a lot of beads and some of the beads can sometimes be damaged.

I have also bought the earrings and blue ring from Etsy. (The plastic bit at the back of the ring is just to make it smaller). The earrings should, to be totally accurate, go vertically up behind the ear but as it really can't be seen, what with ear and buns, I'm hoping this will be fine. By mistake I bought the earrings for the tweedy Leia coat which also have a point in the middle, which I have bent over.

I am going with flattish ankle length black pull on boots. I'm just under 5' 2" so it should make me a good height. Carrie's were a bit higher and very chunky but the URL seems happy with any moderate height. The top of this photo is from one of the costume exhibitions (goodness knows what the strap is) and the middle picture shows my boots.

Yes, I'm really lucky to have a base mate who can sew so well. An "ordinary" seamstress is unlikely to understand the exactness of what we are trying to achieve!

This pattern was apparently quite useful for the cloak but did need modifying.
