In light of the current situation regarding Covid-19 (Corona Virus) it was prudent we(Tython and SCG Command) address the situation and provide some useful information to you all as well as guidelines regarding attending future troops/events.
Advice via the Australian Department of Health has said that the virus does not currently pose a serious threat to the general community. However as there is a high risk of the disease having a potentially service impact on a percentage of the population we are recommending that should you should not attend any troops/events if you;
• have a fever, cough, running nose, sore throat, tiredness and shortness of breath
• have been in contact with someone who is a confirmed case of coronavirus
• have been to or transited through one of these countries in the last 14 days China, Iran, Indonesia, South Korea, France, Japan, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia
• have been told by Public Heath to stay in home isolation
Given the demographic we generally support via our troops fall into the high risk category (i.e. compromised immune and existing respiratory conditions) we are implementing these steps to protect you, the Base, the Garrison and the public.
As well as the above it is more important than ever to re-iterate the practice of good hygiene behaviours when it comes to our kits. Washing and disinfecting not just the inside, but also the outer surfaces of our armour, weapons, props etc after each troop/event to ensure we minimise the spread of general colds and infections.
Please note that the advice is consistently being updated (and can rapidly change) and we are not the experts, so please keep up to date using the following link.
https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-al...alth-alert for the latest advice.
We don't have any hospital troops coming up but when it comes to May we will have to assess these on a case by case basis, in additon any Convention appearances will need to be addressed We may get to a point where we will have to stop trooping should NSW/ACT go into lock down similar to Italy and we need to be mindful of that....
Thank you Troopers. May the Force be with you |
