Hi all! I've been reading all the tips and tricks on the big build thread as well as on the Padmé FB group. I finally started working on my pattern for the coat today. The one that I purchased to modify was really off in the sizing, so I took something I used for a jacket previously and tried to alter it.

I can't figure out how to get the collar not to wrinkle on the side like it it's doing. Also, did you make the collar pieces (1 per bodice side) join in the back, or was it all one big piece?

That's looking great! The color shape is spot-on. For mine, I made a collar seam in the center back, so that I could keep the nap of the velvet on the front pieces going in the same direction.

Hey Jenna,

Great! I've managed to mess up bagging the sleeve lining but it will be attempt #2 tonight! *crosses fingers*

I keep planning on adding more pics; will hopefully do so tonight. In the meantime, I found this tutorial for pintucking knit fabric: https://kelly.hogaboom.org/2018/03/tutorial-pintucks-in-tissue-knit/

Okay, here's what I have. I haven't added the closures to the jacket yet hence the clutching at my chest. Also apologies for a) my closet and b) the lighting in my cave, er, apartment.

I think I need to make the pants tighter. The trim down the side of the pants is puckering the fabric. I hand sewed it on--any tips to prevent this?

Also, are my boots too short?

Nice progress. Smile

I think your boots are high enough, but I'm not an expert on this costume, so can't say for sure.

Great progress! Have you tried putting stirrups on the bottom of your pants to help keep them down? I wonder if that would help solve the trim issue?

Looking great so far. From here, the boots look fine. Do you have any photos without the jacket hanging over them?

I didn't do this the first time, but I found it really helpful to put stirrups and suspenders on my pants to keep them up:
