Ghost Base 2020/02/29 Irwin, PA - Norwin Library Star Wars Day (SKG)
Summary of Event:
This event was Shared from Starkiller Garrison.
Event Name: LEAP into fun with Star Wars
Event Date: Saturday Feb 29 2020
Event Arrival Time: 1 PM Event Start Time: 2 PM Event End Time: 3 PM
Address: Norwin Public Library 100 Caruthers Lane Irwin, PA 15642
We've been invited to attend this one by Starkiller Garrison. Visit with library patrons, conduct trivia, and participate in photo ops. Event went well did not seem to have any major problems that I was aware of, other than what is noted below.
We outmatched the Imperial forces from Starkiller Garrison, a Jawa, and a temperamental astromech droid. The Rebel’s held their own and successfully brought peace and order to younglings and grown-ups alike.
The helpful staff guided us to our secure changing area (Library Director's Office, basically a small conference room), and all who attend got ready for the event including an astromech droid. We were then escorted to the event area (the Kunkle Community Room) and ensuring the guests were all seated and ready.
We entered from the back of the community room in single file and proceeded to the front of the room. After a brief introduction by a skillful Master Jedi Oc-Waver we fielded a few questions from the audience. At that point, the librarian quizzed the audience (mostly future padawans) on their knowledge of Star Wars. “Those who responded correctly were rewarded with stickers. Upon the conclusion of the trivia contest, Imperials and Rebels put aside their difference to pose for group photographs with younglings and grown beings alike.
As the event wound down, our resident Jawa conversed with an interested youngling (who wore an amazing Rey costume) about the Legion and the Galactic Academy whist the remaining troopers - and the droid - posed for action photos throughout the library. The staff were quite pleased to see us and provided us with hydration capsules (water bottles) prior to suit-down” (Andrew Milbourne).
All parties then returned to changing area and prepared for departure to battle another day. A very successful mission from everyone
With that said, there are a few things that I think need to be addressed.
1. On GB event page there was no one listed under attendees. But in the posting embers did sign up.
2. Secure Changing Area: Yes. But the changing area is a small office that does not have a lot of room. I personally feel was too small for all organization personal who attended. If you needed to change cloths you had to go to the restroom located at the front of the building.
3. Upon entering perhaps in the future someone could bring a sound track to play Star Wars music. I think that would be a great help and set the mood
