Time for me to go from Jedi to X-wing pilot!
I'm starting with the flightsuit, since I've decided to make my own flightsuit.
I got a flightsuit pattern from a fellow base member, though I should have gone with the small instead of the meduim. My test run of the flightsuit pattern didn't fit me at all! It was way too big and completely out of proportion for my strangely proportioned body. And this my friends is why you always make a mock up first!
But this gave me a good feel for making the suit and gave me a good starting point. I went back to the drawing board, and completely redrafted the pattern to size it down to fit me and my weird shape.
And gave it another try, minus the pockets, collar, and cuffs. Much better fit this time around!! On to the real deal.

Finding fabric proved to be a pain in the rear, since orange trigger seems to be no longer in production. I searched everywhere for it, but no luck. And I really didn't want to mess with dying white trigger. So after much searching and many swatches ordered, I finally ended up ordering this.
https://www.fabric.com/buy/dc-713/diversitex-polyester-cotton-twill-orange?cm_vc=756b1813-cbc1-43b3-84bd-29889bf8fb7b
I've compared swatches of it to the flightsuits of other pilot members of my base, and the color and texture is pretty much a match!
Fabric on arrival! And for some reason I didn't realize this fabric was 62" wide (though it's actually more like 66" wide) when I ordered it, so I have enough fabric for like 3 flightsuits. Oops. At least I know I have plenty of fabric if I screw up!
Fabric washed and preshrunk.

This weekend I bought myself a new toy, and picked up a serger! Holy moly has this thing made cutting out and overlock stitching all the pieces and parts so much easier this time around!!!
Pockets all cut out and ready to go!
Shirt, sleeve, and waistband pieces cut out and ready to go!
Still need to cut out the pants, collar, and cuffs, but my back is screaming no more today. _________________ Jedi - Great Lakes Base

Haven't had a lot of time to work on this lately, but finally made some more progress this weekend. All the flightsuit pieces are cut out. And today I got all the pockets prepped.

Been a slacker lately, but made some more progress today. Wish the pics had turned out a wee bit better, but the lighting in my house isn't the best.
